Rain showers are going to be heading to the region as we have an interesting set up about to happen in the region - one that is normal, but always fun nonetheless. Half of the region will see rain from one system, while the other half is going to get rain from another system, and both systems will work together. In a quick overlook, here is what we can expect in the region over the next couple days:
A low pressure system is going to be coming up out of the southeastern states and with that, naturally, will be some rain showers. This area of low pressure is heading up towards the region right now as I type. First thing we're going to see with this low pressure system is the cloud cover. Now that'll move into the eastern half of the region later this afternoon and into the evening, and then the rain showers are going to begin entering the region not far behind (distance in terms of weather). This low pressure is going to effect the eastern half of the region, but what about the western half?
The western half of the region will be watching a cold front heading towards the region around the same today. This cold front, though still back in the Plains right now, wil start introducing some rain showers as it nears closer to the region. The rain showers from this front won't be as organized and heavy as the rain showers in the east, but nonetheless, you guys will be getting some rain showers as well. Now here is where it gets fun, late tonight and early tomorrow morning.
The cold front is going to meet up with the low pressure as it nears the region. This cold front, with its rain showers and mechanisms, and the low pressure, with its rain showers and mechanisms, are going to basically start one big rain show. The downside of it all...we aren't going to get the best of it, that will be West Virginia, but we're still going to pick up some rain showers.
Now the cold front is going to push the rain showers out of the western half of the region tomorrow morning, but the low pressure moving up from the Appalachians is going to slow it's progress down just a little bit around the eastern half of the region. This is why I said that the eastern half will get more rain showers than the western half of the region. With the western half of the region quickly clearing out in terms of the rain showers tomorrow afternoon, the eastern half of the region will still hold on to them for an extra 8 to 12-hours.
Lingering into the morning on Wednesday - possibly - the rain showers will quickly taper off as the system moves further to the east and a high pressure sets up in the region.
This high pressure will introduce some cooler temperatures into the region tomorrow night where places like Fort Wayne and Toledo might get to about 40F for a low, which is rather nice.
A quick cold front will try to move through the region on Thursday and/or Friday in the region, and I'll type more about that later this afternoon. For now, that's the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I'll have them for you as always.
