The weather across the region today and this evening will be a bit on the soggy side for some, but nothing out of the usual for this time of the year. I do not want to say that the forecast for today will be tricky or hard, but it isn't going to be the hardest. Rather, the forecast is somewhat simple, a cold front is going to push through the region today.
The cold front isn't too far away from the region right now, and with it are some rain showers. The rain showers are mainly light to moderate and we're mainly seeing them over the Detroit area as of now, but they are about to enter the Fort Wayne area pretty soon. The rain showers are running along the cold front which extends a good distance parallel to the region right now, and as the front moves closer, well, so will the rain showers.
This doesn't mean that your entire day is going to be a washout. Parts of it will, and depending on where you are, some of you will have a decent evening while others of you will have to wait a little bit longer. The easiest way to word it all is: once the rain showers end, that means the front has pretty much passed. When the front passes, a nice area of high pressure is going to filter in behind it and that is going to quickly dry out the region. The high pressure will be bringing in some nice temperatures into the region, looking at 40's in the western half of the region tonight and for tomorrow night it looks like the whole region will be in the 40's or close to it.
Back to today however. In the western half of the region, I am expecting that the front will have passed in time for the rain showers to start tapering off this afternoon and then by this evening will be seeing mainly clear (or close to it) skies. For the eastern half of the region, well, you'll have to wait just a smidge longer. The front probably will not pass through until late this afternoon which means things won't clear up until later this evening. Regardless of the fact, the high pressure will be dominating the region after midnight tonight which means the weekend is looking good.
Even going into Monday for most of us, the region will be calm and quiet, but another rain making system is going to be on its way for Monday night and I'll type more about that later. So, quickly here is what you can expect in the region today and this weekend:
Rain showers this morning in the western half of the region, tapering off by the late afternoon and then skies clearing this evening.
Rain showers developing late this morning/early afternoon in the eastern half of the region today and then tapering off by the early evening, with skies becoming mostly clear no later than after midnight.
Mostly clear and calm over the weekend.
I'll keep you updated as always, but for now, that's the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I'll have them for you as always.
