Noon Update

No changes needed to the forecasts at this point as things are generally going to plan. Seeing that high pressure trying to slip away from the region, leaving behind some low level dry air that the approaching system has yet to break through. Looks like that break will happen late this afternoon and into the evening, and that system will start to heads towards the region. When this break occurs we can expect to see those clouds really start rolling in. I am expecting that the majority of the snow showers won’t arrive in the western half of the region until late tonight (like after midnight) and those will carry the western half of the region through until about noon tomorrow.

A weakening upper level trough is going to swing down into the region, creating a brief disturbance which is what is going to produce those snow showers. The snow showers are going to be light and start off as fairly scattered, but they’ll transition themselves into steady light snow showers towards sunrise tomorrow. Accumulations won’t be an issue with this system as temperatures tomorrow will creep into the mid 30’s for a high which is going to prevent those snow showers from really accumulating a whole lot. That and coupled with a southwest wind – it doesn’t look good for the snow flakes.

The eastern half of the region will be seeing the same thing for the most part, only about 6-hours later than the rest of the region. The snow showers there will be light and scattered as well, but once the system itself passes through, there might be a brief lake effect snow shower event that could take place in the eastern half of the region. I am not expecting that much accumulation will come from this either as temperatures will still be a little bit on the unfavorable side for accumulations (that and it won’t be a long last event either).

Expect the weather in the region to calm down briefly as a high pressure briefly – and I use that term lightly – sets in the region. Then we’re going to watch our next system pull out of the Plains and introduce some rain showers into the region. This low pressure is a post of its own and I’ll type more about it later this evening. But for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that’s the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I’ll have them for you as always.
