Windy for us...then warm

Well, before we go any further, our meteorologist for Buffalo/Detroit/Green Bay is having some weather issues of his own. Jacob lives in Connecticut, not too far away from NYC in fact, and he's reporting about 7 inches of snow (as of 9 p.m. last night). Jacob works two jobs in the weather world, he runs his own site and he helps out with this one, so he is going to be a bit busy with his weather site - which covers the New England area - this morning, so the forecasts for Buffalo, Detroit and Green Bay may not come in this morning. Now lets go to some weather:

Well, as I've been talking about quite a bit, we'll be getting some warmer weather here in the Great Lakes region by Thursday. This will be thanks to a strong low pressure that'll form out of the lower Plain's and quickly move up northeastward towards Minnesota. Depending on how quickly it goes NE will be the big question...that and "to snow or not to snow".

Rain showers will be likely on Thursay and all the way through Saturday. Looking at the recent charts, I am expecting that a cold front will pass through the area on Sunday, and quickly drop the temperatures back to the 20's and 30's. If there are any lingering rain showers at this point, they'll most likely turn to snow for the Great Lakes region, but I am not expecting a whole lot because the ground could very well still be warm at this time.

We could get very windy across the Great Lakes region on Sunday and Monday as well, because with all that cold air rushing in with that high pressure located behind the front, temperatures will drop sharply so that will in fact bring us some wind. Now, will it be more wind or snow? Depending on the track of this system, we'll get one of the two. For now, it looks like more wind than snow, but that all could change.

So, with all that being typed, here is what I expect for the Great Lakes region

Thursday: Rain showers will move in, along with the warmer temperatures. Places like Toledo, Fort Wayne and possibly Detroit could see highs around 40°.
Friday: Looking at more rain showers across much of the southern Great Lakes region with highs near 50° in places like Fort Wayne and Toledo.
Saturday: Still going to see a lot of scattered rain showers in the region, ranging from Fort Wayne all the way to Erie.
Sunday: The cold front will begin to cut across the region, temperatures will begin to drop greatly behind the front, so that could in fact introduce us to some wind.
Monday: Cooler temperatures for the most part across the Great Lakes region, highs might only be in the upper 20's in some spots.

So, there is still time for this system to change its course and mix up a bit, but for now, we're looking at warmer temperatures late in the week, then a sudden cool down back to winter. I like winter. Anyways, I'll be keeping you up to date on that as always, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather!
