Well, who says you cant have fun in the winter time? Well here at the GLWX we're going to really start tracking our next system which will effect much of the western and southern Great Lakes region between Friday and Saturday evening. So, as of now, things are looking a bit tricky in terms of forecasts. The system will definetly pass to the south, but just how far south is the question? Let's go over some possible forecast situations:
1) If the system passes through Tennessee, places like Fort Wayne, Toledo, and Detroit could see about 1-3 inches of snow. Other places like Green Bay and Erie could also get some snow.
2) If the system passes any farther south than Tennessee, then we get pretty much nothing except maybe some dustings of snow in places like Toledo and Fort Wayne, and Detroit and Green Bay would be lucky to get a snow flurry.
3) If the system decides to go through Kentucky...then we have a nice snow storm possible...however this is looking highly unlikely at this point.
Right now, I am expecting the system to cut through Tennessee, however recent indications on the latest charts do show that the system might not even be that well organized...and then some charts are telling me that it will be a little farther south than Tennessee. Now, we want the system to pass as close to the Great Lakes region as possible -- come on, who doesn't want snow?
As of right now, we're going to keep the present track going through Tennessee, which would give places like Toledo and Fort Wayne about 1-3 inches of snow, and Detroit maybe about 1-2 inches. This system will be Friday night going into Saturday (which is Christmas) so that will definetly be something to keep an eye out for (to all those Holiday travelers, please keep checking back for updates).
Anyways, with all that being typed, it is best to inform you that tomorrow we'll really begin to track this system for what it is worth and get some actual good snow total prediction numbers up for you before 8 a.m. tomorrow morning. I'll keep you up to date as always, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather!
