Well as I mentioned earlier, the snow is falling across much of the Great Lakes region right now as I type. What is really funny is that the entire state of Michigan (both U.P and L.P) are all reporting snow at each of the locations and all the locations are reporting temperatures between 25 and 35.
So what can we expect for the rest of the afternoon? Simple, expect the snow showers to continue throughout much of the Great Lakes as Anastasia pulls northward towards Hudson Bay and our second low near Lake Ontario pulls down the cooler air of the lakes today. Highs will range any where from 30-35 depending on where in the Great Lakes you are.
The snow will not be heavy; it'll mostly be that light kind of snow that blows around in the winds for much of the day today. At this point, I am not expecting a lot of snow accumulation, I'd say about a half inch on the grounds and maybe a dusting on the roads for places between Fort Wayne and Cleveland.
The rest of the afternoon forecast:
Detroit: Snow showers today with highs in the mid 30’s. Ground accumulation near a half inch, not much on the roadways.
Toledo: Snow showers today with highs in the mid 30’s. Ground accumulation near a half inch, not much on the roadways.
Fort Wayne: Snow showers today with highs in the lower 30’s. Ground accumulation near a half inch, not much on the roadways.
Erie: Snow showers today, not much accumulating with highs near 40. No accumulation expected between now and 5 p.m.
Green Bay: Highs in the 20’s with some scattered snow flurries at times.
Snow reports from across the Great Lakes region:
Berrien Co., Michigan: a station reported about 2 inches of snow on the ground at 6 a.m. this morning
Trumbull Co, Ohio: a staion reported about an inch of snow on the ground this morning.
Erie Co, Pennsylvania: a station reported about an inch and a half of snow on the ground this morning at around 6:00 a.m.
Chautauqua Co., New York: a station reported 1.0 inches of snow on the ground this morning.
