2 Dec. Forecast

Well, a high pressure will be setting up between today and tomorrow for the western Great Lakes region, so not much going on over there in terms of weather. However, if you're over in Erie or Buffalo, you guys are getting a decent amount of lake effect snow. You guys were behind in snow fall totals, but I am sure there will be a few locations between Erie and Buffalo that will meet their average today. According to our Buffalo forecaster, Jacob, about a total of 14 inches of snow is possible for Buffalo and its suburbs. Not an uncommon event for the people of Lake Erie, but it is the only interesting thing happening at this moment in the region.

On Friday we'll be seeing a relatively weak low pressure scoot through the southwestern and southern sections of the Great Lakes region, and that could give a chance for some snow showers to places like Fort Wayne and Toledo, we'll have a look at those forecasts in just a couple of paragraphs. The funny thing is; after this weak low pressure moves on through, we'll be watching another low pressure coming out of the Plain's and that will be a low pressure which will effect the southern Great Lakes region by Saturday and Sunday.

So December is coming in with a punch, and as George Harrison would say if he was here "Here comes the snow". Let's take a look at some forecasts shall we:

Toledo: Highs today still down in the mid 30's, however snow showers will be tappering off this morning and give way to mostly cloudy skies. Tonight, still expect those clouds to stick aruond for the most part, with lows down in the lower 20's. Tomorrow, that weak low pressure will move through our area and could give us a chance for some snow showers. Nothing too major however, if anything we'll have a dusting of snow. Highs tomorrow in the mid 30's. Tomorrow night, we could see cloudy skies and possible snow showers, no accumulation expected, with lows down in the mid 20's. Saturday will be the day to watch out for, we have a second low coming out of the Plain's and this low will bring a decent chance of snow showers on Saturday, but nothing too much in terms of accumulation I am predicting at this point.

Fort Wayne: Scattered snow showers this morning, highs in the mid 30's, and then some clearing otherwise a mostly cloudy day today. Tonight, you could still see those clouds hanging aruond the area with lows in the mid 20's. Tomorrow, a chance for some snow showers as that weak low pressure system moves on through the area, very little snow accumulation expected. Tomorrow night, we'll just be a cloudy night with scattered snow showers and a low in the mid 20s. Saturday, I am watching this second low pressure that could effect Fort Wayne area on Saturday with a decent chance for snow showers, highs in the mid 30's and little snow accumulation expected at this point.

Erie: Snow showers today...anywhere from 2-3 inches of snow could fall today, and some places might see upwards of 4-5 inches if they get the heavier lake effect snow bands. Highs today in the mid 30's. Tonight, another 1-2 inches of snow could be falling on what you are recieving today, so a total snow accumulation of about 5-9 inches of snow is possible between today and tonight. Lows tonight in the upper 20's. Tomorrow, more chances of snow showers, maybe another inch of accumulation with highs in the mid 30's. Tomorrow night, lows down in the mid 20's with still chances of snow.

Buffalo, you are in for quite a lake effect snow storm. Some areas could be measuring snow by the feet before the day is done, and the snow may continue into the night as well. Today will have a high in the mid 30s, and depending on where the banding may set up, there could be white out conditions. There is currently a Lake Effect Snow Warning in effect until 6 PM tonight, and it states that some areas could see 14+ inches of snow from what is coming off of the lakes. Friday will be a day to recover from the snow, with only flurries in the area and partly cloudy skies. Highs will once again my in the mid 30s. Friday night may have some snow showers with lows similar to tonight, and then Saturday should be almost exactly the same as Friday. Come Sunday, it looks like the lake effect snow may start back up again and continue for a while, so make sure to check back in for more updates.

Detroit, you should still have some scattered snow showers in the region, but nothing much that is accumulating. Those will transition into flurries as the day goes on, and die out overnight tonight. Today, temperatures will peak in the mid 30s, and drop into the mid 20s tonight. Friday will be a great day, with partly cloudy skies and the same temperatures as today. Come Saturday, we could see some more snow showers working their way back into the forecast, and these have the chance to accumulate as well. These would fall with temperatures around the same as today and tomorrow. Make sure to check back in as more information becomes available for the Saturday snow potential.

Green Bay, you should have quite a sunny day today, but despite the sun, temperatures should stay just below 30 degrees. Tonight should be clear, with lows in the mid teens. Friday will be almost identical to today, if not just a degree or two colder. Friday night is when a dilemma may start up, as an Alberta Clipper low pressure system will be forming near the region, and dumping some snow. That snow would fall late Friday night into Saturday, and it will not just be an inch or two like some of these storms. This has the potential to bring 4-6 inches of snow to the region once all is said and done, but there are still a lot of details that need to be worked out with the storm. As more information comes in, I would advise you to check back, as the National Weather Service has already issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the area warning that travel may be disrupted from the snow.

So, the big snow will be happening across the eastern portions of Lake Erie today from Erie on up to Buffalo. I'll be keeping you up to date as always, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather! I'll have a snow update coming up in just a bit. Stay tuned.
