Calm weather for now

Over the weekend, just as we had planned for, the cold front came through and brought with it some rain showers and some thunderstorms. Actually, there were a bit more storms in the area than what I was expecting, but other than that things actually went rather smoothly with that system. One thing that was interesting yesterday in the region was the lake effect(ish) rain over the eastern half of the region, and though it was expected, it was still a pleasant surprise.

Right now, we're watching a weak area - very weak - of low pressure moving down Lake Erie. This could be enough to produce a brief rain shower in a little bit in the eastern half of the region before noon, but to be honest, those chances are small and I am thinking that not much other than some clouds will come out of that. By noon, the eastern half of the region will be like the rest of the region: calm and clear and cool.

Now comes the boring (yet relaxing) part of the forecasts...the high pressure.

This cold front was a good sized one, which means that the high pressure behind it is a good sized one. With the upper level patters the way they are now, that is going to put the high right over the region for today, tonight and into the day tomorrow. The high pressure will not be a quick moving one and it'll slide to the SE of the region later this week, but it will not do so in a quick manner. This means that for the majority of the week, it'll be rather calm and clear, although, there is going to be another system on the way possibly for the weekend (of course) and that could be bringing in some more rain showers. At this point I am not sure if it'll be a repeat of what we saw this weekend, but I'll do some more work with it later today and see what we're going to be dealing with. Shouldn't be anything too extreme though.

Otherwise, not much happening in the region this morning, nor for the day today...and for the next for the days other than the next system for this weekend possibly. I'll keep you updated as always, but for now, that's the weather!
