Rainy weather is going to be on the way as a low pressure comes out of the SE states and heads towards the region.
Right now, we are still seeing those clear skies and cooler temperatures in the region as an area of high pressure basically sits over the region. This high pressure will remain in its location for today and the majority of the day tomorrow and even into tonight. However, this high pressure is going to move out of the way as an upper level trough moves into the SE and an area of low pressure develops further and gets ready to move our way.
Late tomorrow night, this area of low pressure will decide that it finally wants to start moving...mainly because of the upper level trough which will forec it to do so. This surface low will actually have a stationary front attached to it which will extend all the way over into the Carolina's (where it is at now, along with the rain). This low will start to move up N/NNE overnight Thursday and into Friday morning, pulling the front up as a warm front and bringing its centre of circulation towards the region. Translation: Rain will start to head towards the region.
Now because of its course, the eastern half of the region will see a better chance at the rain showers than that of the western half of the region, but nonetheless, the entire region is looking for a decent chance of rain showers. This system isn't going to be moving too fast, and it looks as though it'll take a day or two for it to pass through the region. Now this doesn't mean that it'll be raining the entire time, nah, it'll just be periods of rain showers and then thunderstorms...maybe another period of rain showers with embedded storms...basically you get the idea. I am not expecting a flooding event, but I am expecting perhaps a little relief from the unusually dry weather in the region.
So in a nutshell, that is what I am looking at this morning. I will continue to tweak up the precip timing of the low pressure system and all of its works. I'll keep you updated as always, and I'll try to get a short term outlook posted as well as a more detailed and easier to understand update for you all in a little bit. So make sure that you keep checking back for updates because I'll have them for you as always. But for now, that's the weather!
