27 June 2012

It is going to be a hot next few days in the region. It is all rather simple: a ridge of high pressure that is completely dominating the Plains today will move into the region. This ridge of high pressure will usher in very warm air into the region, and by warm, I mean places like Fort Wayne and Toledo will probably see highs close to 100F tomorrow and maybe even on Friday.
In response to the temperature reports coming out of the Plains and the western Midwest, I did go ahead and raise the temperatures for the forecast region over the next couple of a days. Also, a heat advisory is in effect for the Fort Wayne area due to tomorrow's high temperatures, so do be sure you be mindful of that. I wouldn't be surprised if the Toledo area was going to be put in one in a little bit.
Watching as a few waves of low pressure will ride down along the ridge over the course of the next days as well, and those are going to try to produce some storms in the region, but it'll be hard. Looking at only slight chances at best, and the most we can really expect would be a few widely scattered storms in the region Thursday night and then again Friday night/Saturday morning. Oh well.
Otherwise, I am not expecting to see temperatures drop a whole lot in the region over the forecasting period, and even then they might still manage to stay into the 90's for the fourth of July holiday. I will start doing some forecasts for the fourth of July in a little bit, so make sure that you check back later this afternoon for updates on that. I'll keep you updated as always, but for now, that's the weather!
