Forecast remains rather simple in the region today, yet it will be on the windy side today. We have an area of low pressure to the west and an area of high pressure to our east. Both of the air masses are of decent intensity and somewhat close proximity, thus resulting in the following: wind. We have a tight pressure gradient over the region as the two air masses are exchanging air to one another, so that will in a nut shell be the reason for the wind today in the region. Expect some gusty conditions to last us through the afternoon with some peaking as high as 35 to 40-mph at times. So really nothing unusual when you think about it.Due to this tight gradient, air is being pulled up from the south by both the high pressure and the low pressure. This warm advection is happening rather fast too and it is of decent size, so that is why temperatures today in the region will possibly get into the 60's pending no clouds get in the way.
This area of low pressure is going to bring its cold front across the region tomorrow and this will introduce rain showers into the region. I am not expecting much in the way of thunderstorm activity from this system, looks like things will be a little to stable for that too happen, however an embedded storm is still possible within the moderate clusters of rain showers.
Tomorrow the cold front will push across the region, making the rain showers arrive and then pulling them away towards the late afternoon in the west and the evening in the east. This front won't be that strong, however it'll have enough cool air behind it...that...it will bring...you're waiting for it huh...it will bring...cooler temperatures. As far as snow...more than likely most places in the region won't see any. Though the air mass will have cooler temperatures with it, it won't be enough to support much snow fall. Areas like Detroit, Erie and Buffalo could pick up a stray snow flurry...but in all honesty, nothing much in the way of accumulations.
Temperatures will be quick to rise again throughout the weekend as our next area of high pressure will get ready to enter the region. This area of high presure will be closely followed by yet another system that will introduce some rain showers into the region and some warmer temperatures once again. I'll type more about this later.
So really a calm day in the region today, despite the wind and really above normal temperatures. Looking for clouds to increase this evening with rain showers developing from the west to the east uniformly throughout the evening and overnight.
I'll keep you updated as always, I'll have some revisions coming up around 11.30 a.m. this morning so make sure that you check back for those. For now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather!
