No changes to the forecast right now as things are generally going to plan throughout the region. Looking at cloudy skies still hanging around as a weak trough moves through the northern half of the Great Lakes region…allowing for clouds. Those might actually push out of the region this evening so I will keep an eye on those. Otherwise, not a whole lot going on in the region.Tomorrow is going to be an interesting day as a low pressure centre develops out of the central Plains and quickly heads towards the region. This low pressure system is going to remain to the north and west of the region; however it will affect us nonetheless. This low pressure centre while arriving in Chicago will pull a warm front across the region tomorrow afternoon and this will allow for some instability in the atmosphere. We’re looking at a chance for storms late tomorrow afternoon/early evening in the western half of the region – though they will be mainly normal type storms – and then we’ll see rain showers throughout the region overnight tomorrow night and Saturday morning as the cold front arrives into the region.
Otherwise, once the cold front passes through the region it’ll bring some cooler air across the lake and that could start a weak lake effect snow shower event (and maybe a few rain showers). The event that does form will not be that much and though some accumulation is possible, expect that most of it will melt during the day time as the temperatures climb into the mid to upper 30’s in the eastern half of the region.
Looking for warmer weather to gradually return into the region towards the start of next week, and I’ll type more about that tomorrow morning. I’ll have a brief update coming up around 3.30 p.m. this afternoon, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that’s the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I’ll have them for you as always.
