Cold front making its way across the region this morning accompanied by its parent low pressure centre which is located up in the northern Great Lakes at this time. Rain showers are out and about this morning across much of the region, they are light and scattered but they are around nonetheless. The rain showers will take us through the morning in many places, however once that front passes through we're going to see the moisture quickly exit the region and that will end those rain showers...for the most part. Now stick with me here. The system has a little moisture on the backside of the front, so there could be a few lingering rain showers in the western half of the region through the early afternoon, but mainly that won't be much of a problem. Looks like the big thing behind the front will be cloudy skies. Now the eastern half of the region is going to have to watch for a very brief lake effect snow event to take place once the front passes through. The difference between the surface temps and the 850-mb temps isn't going to be that big...maybe 10C at the most, the winds won't be strong and the moisture will be limited, but nonetheless things could go in favor and we could see a few brief lake effect snow showers develop in the eastern half of the region late this evening...but those will exit that area within hours of developing.
The weekened look to be a little calm except for a quick trough that will move through the region. Otherwise the hardest thing about the extended forecasts today is actually the cloud cover for the next few days. I am not sure why...it is just being complicated today. We'll watch another system effect the region on Tuesday and during the middle of the week, but from the looks of this one...it could end up being all rain once again. So I will do further work on that one again.
I'll keep you updated as always, and I'll be revising those forecasts - mainly for the timing of the trough - throughout the morning today and I will have those up by 11.30 a.m. this morning so make sure that you check back for those. But for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather!
