Noon Update

Alright, things mainly going to plan throughout the region as the rain showers are moving through at their normal pace. Looking for those clouds to start to diminish earlier than expected in the western half of the region today, but about late afternoon/early evening we’ll watch as those clouds really start to fall apart. Cold front moving towards the region right now and that is going to start slowly dropping those temperatures this afternoon.

However overnight tonight the eastern half of the region is going to see a possible quick burst of some lake effect snow showers this evening, but those aren’t going to accumulate much at all if they even do anything.

Tomorrow looks to be a rather calm day across the region. Despite the fact that there will be a few lingering snow showers and possibly a few lingering rain showers in the Buffalo area tomorrow morning, I am really not expecting that a whole lot is going to happen. High pressure will be building in from the south and this is going to help keep the region fairly dry over the weekend.

A weak disturbance will ride the ridge of high pressure during the afternoon/evening on Saturday; however there will be very limited moisture – which is why I dropped the precip chances back in the western half of the region during this time. Still will be seeing some clouds from it as well as a flurry or two in the late afternoon, but otherwise nothing much really.

Start of the week is looking somewhat interesting as a nice sized low pressure will pass to our south and east and head up the Atlantic Coast. Looks like we’ll be too far away from this system to really get anything – other than a chance for rain showers, naturally – however I will be keeping eye on this. The precip shield from this system might end up affecting the eastern half of the region during the start of next week, so this is going to be something that I will work closely on. Even if this system does affect the eastern half of the region…it is only going to be brining rain showers, and probably not much in the way of snow. Naturally.

Otherwise, no major changes to the forecasts at this point and I am not expecting that I will be changing them much at all this afternoon. So because of this – and because it is also a Thursday – there will not be an afternoon update on the site or on Facebook, however there will be a forecast revision around 8.30 p.m. this evening so make sure that you check back for that. I’ll update you sooner however if need be. But for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that’s the weather!
