Things generally going to plan this afternoon as the low pressure system is continuing to stay to the north and west of the region. The low pressure will begin to undergo occlusion in a little bit and this will allow for the low to max out and then start weakening as the afternoon and overnight progresses. So what does this mean for the region? Simple, rain showers will be exiting the region and the drier conditions will be returning; however there is a small catch. Some of the charts this morning are starting to hint at some lingering moisture left over from behind the front that might stick around with us. This means that despite the bulk of the rain showers exiting the region this afternoon (if they haven’t already) that a few pop up rain showers could develop. However the rain showers that do develop will be light and fairly scattered, so I am not really expecting a whole lot from them at all…if they even do occur. The question is going to be whether or not the mid level moisture will be ample enough to support this or not, looks like it is equal chance either way…which is never fun.
Otherwise, the region will be relatively calm for the day tomorrow, despite the chance of a lingering rain shower or snow shower in the region tomorrow morning, but otherwise the day tomorrow will actually be fairly calm. This calm won’t last very long however as we’re going to watch yet another low pressure system get ready to develop and effect the region.
This system that develops will form almost out of the blue between Friday morning and Saturday morning. This low pressure will develop in the central Plains, deepen rapidly and then quickly make a bee line for the same locations that this present low pressure has gone through. The only difference is going to be that this low pressure will not weaken in the same spot, and due to its size and all, it will make a more northerly track, allowing for a strong cold front to push through the region. However the question is going to be the presence of the high pressure and whether or not it’ll be there…or won’t be there.
So the forecast is still a little bit uncertain for this afternoon and then Friday night across the region, however I’ll be revising those forecasts this evening as well, so make sure that you check back for those. Due to the time needed to make the forecasts, I’ll have to cut this update short, but I’ll have another brief update this evening. For now, I am Timmy Albertson and that’s the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I’ll have them for you as always.
