Winter is Back

A cold front associated with a weak low pressure is headed towards the region - so this is basically a clipper type system - and we're going to see a few snow showers come from this today. The cold front is headed towards the region and this is going to give us a brief wave of snow showers in the region. Some additional snow could develop from the lake in the eastern half of the region, which will give you guys a few inches of snow, but generally this will be a very light snow accumulation system...with most places not seeing anything other than snow showers.

Upper level winds are going to remain in the a northwest flow for tonight and tomorrow. This flow will help pull down some cool air into the region overnight tonight despite the cloud cover. I am expecting that places in the western half of the region will get down to about 10 tonight and there will be a little wind after this front passes, so it'll feel a little cooler than 10 tonight. Otherwise, it wont be a very active night tonight.

Now this upper level flow is going to remain northwestern tomorrow and we're going to watch a wave of energy get into the flow and that is going to head towards the region in the form of snow showers. This system is going to move quick, but it will have a good amount of energy (snow) which means that for once the western half of the region will actually see their first decent amount of snow...but it is only going to be about 1-3 inches. Further forecasting on this will be done in the morning.

For once, I am thinking that the entire region will actually see the same unform amount, I am not expecting much lake enhancement with this system. Otherwise, just a little snow, which is nice for this time of the year.

I'll keep you updated as always, and I'll have my next post coming up around 11.30 a.m. this morning, however I will be adding some snow fall totals to the extended forecasts by 7.30 a.m. this morning, so make sure you check back that. But for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather!
