Surprisingly...Calm...

Upper level trough is still the dominant feature of the weather today. The western half of the region is on the edge of the northwestern flow, so that is why it is windy and those temperatures are low today. The winds are still gusting out of the northwest in the eastern half of the region, but that is going to change rather soon as this upper level trough begins to slide off to the east.

Tonight will be the cool night for the eastern half of the region as the edge of the NW flow from the trough moves through that area tonight. Expect lows inland in the Erie and Buffalo areas tonight to get down around 10° and maybe a degree or two lower depending on how things go over. Now this cool weather is basically going to be done with for a few days as the upper level trough slides off to the east.

Warm advection will start to return in the region as the upper trough moves out of the region by tomorrow morning. The exiting of the upper trough is going to allow for the NW flow to turn to the west and this will be brief as a short wave comes racing down the flow from the NW and heads towards the region. This short wave is going to rush through the region and give us one last shot at snow flurries and some light snow showers across the region tomrorrow and early tomorrow evening. Some of the snow flurries could linger late in the evening for the eastern half of the region, but the snow is not going to accumulate much at all as they will be light.

Flow returns to the west through the region and this will push some above normal temperatures into the region. But will this last long?

The forecast after Friday gets a little weird as we could be watching a weak front/trough push through the region and this will drop the temperatures back to normal. But the big question will be how much moisture it will have to work with. At this point, I am not thinking it will have that moisture to work with, so I am going to keep the region dry through Friday and Saturday, but this is something that I will keep an eye on this morning. If I do change the forecast this afternoo, it will mainly be to add some scattered precip in the forecasts, but nothing major.

Temperatures return to normal by the end of the forecast period.

The weather could get a little interesting perhaps towards the start of the week, but this might only be interesting in terms of temperature - not precip. I'll do some more work on this as well.

Otherwise, nothing much going on in the region. Weather remains fairly calm for this time of the year.

I'll keep you updated as always, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I'll have them for you as always.
