Afternoon Update

Weather across the region becoming active as we're seeing our change in the weather begin. Upper level low pressure along with its associated low pressure are moving towards the region right now and it is already bringing rain showers in to the region. Noticing those rain showers already in the Fort Wayne and Toledo areas, as well as Cleveland area this evening. It will take another couple hours to make it into the Detroit and Erie areas and it won't be until this evening when it arrives in the Buffalo area. The rain showers will become widely scattered in the west after midnight, yet they will still remain in the east overnight. As far as rain fall totals are concerned...we'll all generally stay under a half inch, so no big concerns there.

Widely scattered rain showers take us into the day tomorrow with that approaching upper level trough. The low pressure from the north will have "absorbed" (for lake of a better word) with part of the energy from the Texas low and that is going to deepen further over the Michigan area tomorrow. This is going to pull cooler air into the region late tomorrow afternoon and then the those lingering rain showers are going to turn over to snow showers by the time tomorrow night rolls around. Then the snow showers will make a decent comeback overnight tomorrow where the western half of the region could see about 1-3 inches of new snow fall between tomorrow night and Friday. This will be all thanks to some moisture caught in the eastern side of the upper level trough that will have made it just to the west of the region.

Now this is going to be coupled with some gusty winds on Friday, but nothing too extreme, I am expecting that generally the winds will stay below 40-mph in the region (although this is something that I'll be keeping an eye on). Too add to this, with the influx of cooler air over the warmer lake waters...lake effect snow showers in the east.

So there is the weather in a quick summary.

I'll keep you updated as always, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather!
