Afternoon Update

This post is going to focus on the long term forecast period...mainly so I can get it out of the way. Now we're going to see the weather get a little active this time next week and here is what we're going to see:

An upper level trough is going to push into the Plains towards the middle of next week at the same time an upper level low pressure and its surface low pressure move up from the southern Plains. This surface low pressure will make a glancing blow to the region, but there are two questions arising from it: How far west will its precip go and will the cool air make it in time to keep the system snow. Either way, it doesn't look like this is going to be anything too extreme.

Surface low pressure is going to rush ahead of an upper level trough which is going to be moving through the Plains. Near the base of this trough is going to be a surface low of its own, weaker though, that will travel to the north of the region. This surface low could bring us a repeat of the weather that we saw the other day and it will be an interesting one to keep an eye on. Behind this system will be some cooler air that will try to filter into the region, though how cool it will get is still a little bit of a debate this afternoon.

The other thing that I am looking at this afternoon is whether or not these two low pressure are going to end up working together with moisture exchanging. This will be something interesting and it could make the forecast for Thursday and Friday (of next week) a little bit on the tricky side. Either way the cool air will fill into the region behind this system and that will put us at least a little bit near average and hopefully a degree or two below.

I will not be making many changes to the forecast this afternoon or evening as the general synopsis of the weather hasn't changed a whole lot. The only thing I will do with the forecast is adjust temperatures here and there and if I'll try to put Wednesday's weather into the forecast this evening as well.

I'll keep you updated as always, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I'll have them for you as always.
