The weather today in the region will be a bit on the active side, mainly for the eastern half of the region today. The western half of the region will see the majority of their excitement this morning as the cold front approaches, and then the approaching upper trough will allow for a few lingering snow showers in the western half of the region early this afternoon. But the main focus is going to be the lake effect snow in the eastern half of the region. The cold front will pass through the western half of the region late this morning and that is going to calm the weather down a little bit. Now the upper level trough is going to attempt to leave a few lingering snow showers in the western half of the region this afternoon. But once the trough gets closer, the snow showers will taper off late this afternoon and the western half of the region will go for a mainly clear as that high pressure sets up.
The cold front will pass through the eastern half of the region this afternoon and that is going to keep allowing for those winds to blow off the lake and produce some lake effect snow. When the upper level trough approaches tomorrow morning, then the snow showers will cease as the winds change and the high pressure builds into the region.
High presssure will dominate the regional weather for the next couple of days and that is going to calm the region until Tuesday when I will be watching the next system move towards the region. I’ll type more about this later.
I’ll have a special update coming up around 7.00 a.m., along with some tweaking of the extended forecasts. But for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that’s the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I’ll have them for you as always.
