Rainy update

The weather across the region will become a little unsettled tonight as our upper trough begins to dig into the southern Rockies and gets ready to spawn a surface low. This is going to allow for a warm front to get ready to move towards the region overnight tonight and as it does so…rain showers will arrive. The first places to see the rain showers in the region will be Fort Wayne and Toledo followed up by Detroit. The majority of the rain showers aren’t going to arrive until after midnight tonight in the west and then tomorrow morning for the eastern half of the region.

Tomorrow, rain showers will be out and about the entire region and then continue into tomorrow night.

The rain showers will not taper off until Thursday morning as the cold front from this low pressure gets ready to exit the western half of the region. Thursday evening the cold front will pass through the eastern half of the region, but this isn’t going to calm the east down much. The rain showers will mix with snow showers Thursday evening and a brief lake effect snow event could take place. The only problem with this lake effect event is that a high pressure will be right behind it and waiting to shut it down so we wont see this event lasting but a little bit.

So how is our Christmas looking in the region? Well the latest models runs have come out and we’re looking for a bit of an unsettled pattern around Christmas. We’ll see a low pressure effect the region by brining a cold front through on Monday and then we could see yet another low pressure system move through the region on the 23rd. Now, the models disagree as of the 12Z update as to what form of precip it’ll come as…the 540-mb line is all over the place. So I’ll be doing further forecasting on this system this afternoon.

I’ll have a complete update coming up around 5.00 p.m., but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that’s the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I’ll have them for you as always.
