Noon Update

Alright this post is basically going to focus on the weather for the next 24-hours in the region. What is going to happen is that a cold front is going to push through the region this evening and then it is going to stall out just to the east and south of the region tonight.

At the same time, we’re watching our upper level low pressure system finally move out of the southern Rockies and into the Plains, weakening slightly though, and this is going to continue to head towards the region. This evening it will spawn our surface low pressure which is going to ride up through the region, bringing in some warm air into the region which is going to make the forecast for tomorrow morning all the more interesting, here is why.

Remember that stationary front, well the low pressure centre is going to develop along the southern edge of it and head towards the region. This will lift the section of the front ahead of it northwestwards as a warm front and this is going to introduce that precip back into the region. Now the 850-mb temps will be low enough that tomorrow morning and early afternoon, the leading edge of the precip from the warm front will be a wintry mix, mainly for the western half of the region.

This wintry mix will contain: Rain, snow and possibly a smidge of freezing rain that won’t do anything. This mix will be fairly light tomorrow and the real rain isn’t going to show up until tomorrow evening.

The warm front lifts through the region late tomorrow afternoon, more so towards the evening in all honesty – and this is going to give a very quick break in the rain showers that will result in warmer temperatures entering the region.

The excitement does not end there as that is the first wave of precip…we still have the low itself and then our next system to type about. Due to time however, I am going to save this for the afternoon post which I’ll have up probably around 3.30 p.m. or so this afternoon on the site and on Facebook. I can tell you now though that the system for Friday might be bringing in some snow for the region (knock on wood). Extended forecasts have been revised so be sure to check those out. I’ll keep you updated as always, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that’s the weather!
