Afternoon Update

No real major changes to the forecast right now as things are just starting to get under way for the regional weather. Cold front trying to move into the region, it isn’t that far away from Fort Wayne and should pass you guys by the evening. Toledo and Detroit will see it about an hour or two later. Once this front stalls out just to the south and east of the region, it will allow for waves of low pressure to develop and ride along it.

Right now down in the southern Plains is our low pressure centre which developed not that long ago. It is doing well, around 1005-mbs and this low pressure is going to latch up along the stationary front and move it. Tomorrow we’ll watch this low pressure start moving towards the region, and in doing so it’ll push that stationary front back northward as a warm front tomorrow.

The western half of the region will see a little wintry mix from this warm front, but nothing much – mainly we’ll just be seeing rain showers in the region.

Low pressure moves through the region on Wednesday night/Thursday and this is going to give us a brief break in the weather – that is until our next system gets ready to move into the region. And this next system will come in the form of a surface low and an upper level low which will come out of the Plains and head towards the region. Knocking on wood this afternoon, if we’re lucky this system will reach us by Saturday and this will give us some snow showers in the region just in time Christmas Day.

I do apologize for the shortness of this post, there is a lot of forecasting to do this evening. I’ll have another post up around 7.00 p.m. this evening, and the extended forecasts are going to be revised throughout the afternoon and evening. But for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that’s the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I’ll have them for you.
