Not really any big changes to the forecast at this point as things are going relatively smoothly. The clouds are hanging around in the region a little lower than I had expected in the region which means that temperatures in the western half of the region will be staying down in the mid 30’s this afternoon.
I am still holding out for a chance of some snow flurries later this afternoon and into the evening for the western half of the region and possibly for a few other places in the region tomorrow, but more on that later.
Right now, the charts are coming into a good agreement for the day Friday and Saturday as an upper level trough swings through the region. A rather nice upper level trough it will be, nearly textbook as it moves through the region. The 540-mb line will be far enough to our south that all precip does form during the Friday through Saturday time will be snow. Though the western half of the region will mainly see a few spotty snow showers, the eastern half of the region has a much different scenario to watch out for…lake effect.
This lake effect snow is going to start developing on Thursday as the upper level trough moves into the region. I am going to utilize this time to work on the extended forecasts instead of having a long update; I’ll save the long detailed update for 3.30 p.m. I’ll type more about all this coming up around 3.30 p.m. on the site and on Facebook, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that’s the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I’ll have them for you.
