Things going mainly to plan this morning as an area of high pressure is building in the Plains and this will effect us, more so tomorrow. Right now, some lingering clouds and flurries in the western half of the region from the weak front, and then some snow showers hanging around in the eastern half of the region. The snow showers will start to taper off this morning, but they will still linger around this afternoon in the eastern half of the region as flurries. High pressure plays the dominance game in the region tomorrow, as the western half of the region will see mainly clear skies. The eastern half of the region will see some flurries in the morning, but generally tomorrow will be a fairly calm day across the region.
High pressure backs off Christmas Day and will allow for a weak front to push through the region. This front is going to be a little stronger than I had expected, so I am going to add some widely scattered snow showers to the forecast for Christmas Day, but these will not accumulate much. Temperatures on Christmas will be around the upper 30’s so that is going to prevent that snow from accumulating much.
The high pressure returns on Monday, and that is going to allow for the region as a whole to see some much calmer weather for Monday.
But Tuesday we’re going to watch another system get ready to move through the region and this system will be bringing rain/snow showers into the region. I’ll be doing further forecasting on this throughout the morning along with another update coming up around 8.00 a.m. But for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that’s the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I’ll have them for you as always.
