Some active weather is on the way for the region, I’ll make this update brief but have a fuller update coming up in a little bit.
In short sense here is what we can expect to see in the region over the next couple of days.
A low pressure system is going to pass through the region today and this is going to introduce rain showers into the region. Temperatures are going to be a little above average today with highs in the 40’s across the region. The rain showers will take us into the evening across the region and then they’ll start to become scattered in the region.
The low pressure will exit the region, dragging a small cold front behind it. Some lake enhanced rain showers possible tomorrow, otherwise a ridge of high pressure is going to develop in the western half of the region. This high pressure is going to introduce some warm advection into the region and we’ll see highs tomorrow once again in the 40’s, possibly near 45° once again.
Then we’re going to watch a nice sized low pressure move through the northern Plains and this is going to have a broad cold front – a strong one as well – and that is going to head to head towards the region. The precip that is going to be introduced into the region will start off as rain showers, but then it’ll quick mix to snow showers as that low pressure passes just to the north of the region.
The cold front will slam into the region on Sunday night and this is going to start up a lake effect snow event in the region and this event is going to be a lasting one…for about 2 to 2 ½ days in the region. As far as accumulations are concerned, the western half of the region won’t see much, but the eastern half of the region will. I haven’t put some fall totals on it yet, but I am going to later this morning, so make sure that you check back for updates on that.
Otherwise the cold front is going to introduce much cooler weather into the region where the temepratures across the region will be staying below 32°…possibly not getting out of the 20’s until Wednesday.
I’ll have another update coming up in a little bit, I’ll go more in depth with all these systems then. But for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that’s the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I’ll have them for you as always.
