I made a classical error today at Noon when I said an update would be posted between 4.30 p.m. and 5.00 p.m. this evening. I just happened to pick the time when the models where not finished updating, so I only half of what I needed. Then I lost track of time waiting for the models to finish their runs for the 18z. So I do apologize for the lateness of this update. I’ll make this update quick as I have a lot more forecasting to do this evening.
Cold front making its way through the region right now and this is going to cool the temperatures down rather quickly and noticably across the region. Temperatures around Noon today in the Fort Wayne area sat at 58° and now we’re down to lower 40’s, so a good drop in the temperatures. All places in the region will see this temperature drop tonight.
This cold front will produce a little lake enhanced snow in the eastern half of the region tonight, but this event wont be much as the trough responsible for it will be closely under the watch of a high pressure. This will be a quick event and do not expect much accumulation from it if any does happen.
High pressure tries to build briefly in the region tomorrow and this will keep the weather calm and clear throughout the region tomorrow. But then a moisture deprived upper trough will come through the region over the weekend. This upper trough will introduce some widely scattered snow showers into the region, but mainly it’ll just be bringing in clouds for the western half of the region. The most interesting thing this system will do is bring some lake effect snow yet again into the region. This event could bring up to an inch of snow in the eastern half of the region.
High pressure builds up to the south and this will keep the second half of Sunday and the first half of Monday rather calm in terms of weather. But then a cold front will move through the region and this one will be interesting, brining rain and snow showers into the region. The front will then stall out to the south of the region (hopefully) and this will keep the precip in the region.
Tuesday we’re going to watch and area of low pressure develop underneath an upper level low and this is going to move up towards the region. This is where the bulk of the forecasting will go this evening and I’ll have more information on this coming up in a little bit so be sure to check back for updates. But for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that’s the weather!
