No major changes to the forecasts right now as things are generally going to plan. We have our low pressure system which is forming down to our south right now and this will continue to head up towards the region as the day goes on. Looking for the low to stay to the south of the region, although the precip shield will be good enough that it will effect us. This will be aided by a weak cold front that will enter the region later tonight and help keep the low pressure to the south of us. Scattered rain showers are possible in the eastern half of the region this morning and early afternoon as some light lake enhancement could take place. Otherwise, generally cloudy for the entire region today with highs cooler than yesterday, in the mid 40’s.
This evening, those rain showers will enter the region as the low pushes a somewhat warm front into the region. This will introduce rain showers into the region. However the warm front will stop just short of the region, and then the low pressure will pull cool air from the north around it and tonight we’ll start to see some of those rain showers mixing with snow and then becoming snow showers in the west. This will happen in the east but it will take a little bit more time.
The place in the region that will see this low pressure the most will be the area around Erie will the precip shield will be closest. Once this rain changes over to snow after midnight tonight, accumulating snow in the Erie area will be possible with about 1 to maybe 3 inches of snow possible by tomorrow morning.
Low pressure drags cooler air, yet somewhat drier, over the lake waters and this will produce a little bit of a lake effect event afterwards.
Otherwise, tomorrow a high pressure will develop in the region from the west and this will keep the regional weather in the west fairly calm over the next couple of days.
I’ll have another update coming up around Noon today, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that’s the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I’ll have them for you as always.
