Changing over...

No big changes to the forecast this evening as the rain showers are still working on switching over to snow across the northwest Ohio area. While this is happening, as expected the precip is starting to break a little bit in the western half of the region, but the precip is still rather unbroken at this time and will remain so through the evening. By late this evening pretty much all places around the Fort Wayne, Toledo and Detroit areas will be seeing snow showers. Here is what I am expecting for tonight in the western half of the region in terms of snow fall accumulation by tomorrow morning:

Fort Wayne: 1-2 inches.
Toledo: A half inch to possibly ¾ of an inch.
Detroit: A half inch.

So not a very strong snow fall section of this system, but one nonetheless. It isn’t helping the snow showers that the surface temps are hanging around the mid 30’s and not at 32° or below. Though close, the snow will not stick until the temperatures get to the lower 30’s, and this is going to gradually happen this evening – though by that time it will have already hurt the snow fall totals.

The snow showers will start to become widely scattered late tonight and they’ll really start exiting the region late, late tonight in the western half of the region. Look for some lingering snow showers possible in the morning, otherwise an area of high pressure will start to make itself noticable throughout the region.

High pressure builds into the region tomorrow afternoon and this will really start to clear the skies throughout the area from the west to east throughout the afternoon tonight. This is going to calm us down as well. Tomorrow night however the high pressure will be in full control of the region, and if you think its chilly not – you wait until tomorrow night. Temperatures tomorrow night across the region are going to drop like a rock – or small pebble – once that sun goes tomorrow and that is going to be the most noticable in the western half of the region. Fort Wayne and Toledo will get down into the lower 20’s and I am debating on whether or not the upper teens sounds more plausible.

Calm weather through the rest of the week despite a slight chance for a stray snow shower in the Fort Wayne and Detroit areas on Thursday night and Friday morning as weak trough pushes through the region.

I’ll keep you updated as always, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that’s the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I’ll have them for you as always. I'll have another update arond 6.30 p.m. or 7.00 p.m.
