A wide variety

(Low pressure down in Oklahoma will move northeast today and that will push that cold front northward...making it a warm front).

Well across the region later today and through tonight and for much of tomorrow, we're going to see a variety of weather. Snow in Green Bay, about 2-4 inches will fall between later today and tonight. The accumulation will mostly be limited to the grassy areas, and it wont stick around for too long because those temps on Thursday are going to go back into the mid to upper 40's. This same low pressure system that is causing the snow in Green Bay will cause those rain showers and thunderstorms in the southern part of the region today and tomorrow as well.

Now, the storms wont really show up until late this afternoon or early evening, and that will be because of a warm front which is going to push through the region. In general, most of what we'll see today will be rain showers and a few storms could get caught into the mix, but mostly rain showers from Fort Wayne to Buffalo. Buffalo, you guys wont really see those rain showers until later this morning however they'll be just as good as what everybody else will see.

Now there is a threat for some strong storms, the SPC has areas just to the south of the forecast area under a moderate risk for strong storms (which is a good chance). Those strong storms however for us aren't going to be as bad as what people down in the Illinois and Ohio River Valley will see. In fact, the biggest threat for these strong storms will mostly just be gusty winds and some small hail. This is goig to be likely once that warm fron passes through the region later tonight. That air is going to be unstable and moist so we will be seeing some storms pop up ahead (if not along) the cold front. Again, the biggest threat will be small hail and gusty winds from the storms. But we should get some nice lightning shows.

The storms will move through the Fort Wayne and Toledo areas overnight and possibly early tomorrow morning as that cold front sweeps through. Daily highs will occur in the morning hours and then as that cold front passes, it will quickly drop those temps back into the 40's by the afternoon hours. So nighttime storms tonight is what we're looking at for the Toledo and Fort Wayne area. Cleveland you could get those storms too, however they will be semi-strong, and the biggest threat for you guys will be the same only just a tad bit less likely. Erie and Buffalo will mostly just see rain showers from this system as it passes through, but you too could get an embedded storm in the mix.

Now as far as Storm Updates are concerned...the majority of the storms are looking they'll pass through outside of regular update hours so if we do start to see those storms gets pretty dicey then I'll of course update you hardcore on them, but in general I will be keeping you updated on them, but of course with storm updates it is going to be dependant on what the storms feel like they will do.

As for now however, I am thinking that a majority of the storm reports that we are going to get in our part of the forecast area will generally be for strong winds and perhaps some small hail. I do not expect too much else to come from these storms today unless you go way to the south of the forecast area in places like Evansville or St. Louis...neither of which we forecast for.

So here is what I expect in a somewhat timeline:

Today, rain showers and some embedded storms in the region from Fort Wayne to Buffalo for a good chunk of the day today. There will be a brief break this afternoon, but for the most part it will be a pretty constant chance of rain showers.

Tonight, that warm front will cross into the southern part of the region, mainly through Fort Wayne to Cleveland and that will make that air unstable. We most likely will be seeing some storms, however biggest threat beind small hail and gusty winds. Those storms will move eastward ahead of a cold front that will cross through the region as well.

Tomorrow, temps dropping pretty steadily by the mid morning hours as that cold front moves through the region. Toledo and Fort Wayne will see their highs in the early morning with an afternoon high of only in the mid 40's. We could get a few scattered rain showers behind the front, but in general most of it will have ended in the morning hours. Erie and Buffalo will still see a chance for those rain showers and some of those stronger storms by tomorrow morning, but for them those chances look as though they will be ending in the afternoon.

High pressure goes into effect for the region on Thursday and we should have a break in the precip until Friday when we see another low pressure system return.

I'll keep you updated throughout the day as always, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I'll have them for you as always.
