More rain showers are on the way for places like Toledo and Fort Wayne again this evening, and the rain is still falling over in the Cleveland and Erie, and even the Buffalo areas. Looking for a brief break to occur in the Cleveland and Erie areas here in the next couple hours, however I am watching that next system make its way in. Fort Wayne, you'll be seeing the rain showers return here pretty soon, as will Toledo and those are going to last through a good chunk of the evening tonight.
Tonight across much of the southern region will once again be a rainy one and it will be all thanks to this low pressure system and its stationary front which are in the area. Let us type about this for a moment here...
Stationary front down through the central part of Ohio and Indiana right now will slowly begin to move up northward this evening...any time now...as a warm front, and that is going to help in assisting the next wave of precip into our area. This rain will pretty much be a repeat of what we saw (and are still seeing in some spots) of what we saw earlier today and that should be good enough to get the precip total for today here at GLWX at 1.00+ inches...hurray.
The reason for the movement of the stationary front is going to be because of a low pressure system dow in the southern Plain's that is going to shift northeastward later this evening, and that will pull that front up northward with it. As the low pressure nears, tah-dah, more chances of rain fall for the entire region later tonight and tomorrow as well as on the day Wednesday. Its actually rather simple if you know how the weather functions...it is just going to take its time happening.
So with that all typed, lets put this into simple terms...low pressure going to push the stationary front up northward tonight for the southern part of the region...this will raise temps across the region to above average temps tomorrow. Chances of precip will remain high across the southern part of the region tonight as the next wave of precip makes its way towards us. Tomorrow, some strong storms are possible as that warm front will have made the air somewhat unstable. Some of the storms could produce small hail and brief heavy downpours (and any more rain fall at this point in the region could cause for some minor road and field flooding so be sure to watch out for that).
Of the storms that will form, most of them will be regular tomorrow, with a couple of them meeting the standards for being strong. The chances for strong storms is really going to occur in places just to the east of Fort Wayne and through Erie, Pa., with the highest chances actually being Cleveland and Erie. Again, I am not expecting an outbreak of any sort...however I am expecting that a storm or two could be strong tomorrow and that will mean that I will be following them. Biggest concern with the storms will mostly be small hail.

Again, the SPC is showing some interest in the areas just to the south of the region, so I will be keeping an eye on that tomorrow, however it is nothing too get overly excited about.
So, this is why the precip chances are going to be so high for the next two days, and it is because that warm front is going to still hang around the area, and then we're going to wait for that low pressure system to move towards the area and bring its trailing cold front with it. As that cold front moves towards the region, again we could see some storms and more rain showers pop up ahead of it. So the next couple days will be something to watch for...but it is that time of the year when we get systems like this, so it is nothing unusual.
I'll be updating those extended forecasts in just a bit, so do check back around 8.30 p.m. for those and I will have a little bit more information on what to expect. I'll keep you updated as always, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I'll have them for you as always.
