Still raining

Across the region, there is basically rain showers in the area. Expect these rain showers to last for a good portion of the day today as that disturbance moves on through ahead of the low pressure down in the Plains. Right now, speaking of that low pressure, it is at 989 mbs and located just north of the Oklahoma panhandle. This low pressure does finally have its warm front and cold front. Now remember from this mornings post, both of those fronts (as always) are going to be important to the weather overnight tonight and tomorrow morning at least.

This low pressure is going to quickly move up northeast today, and that warm front will begin to move northward as well. Expect that warm front to enter the region tonight and by midnight, some of us will have temps in the 50's because of that front. This will prove to be some vital air for the development (or continuation if that is the case) of some storms. Now, again, I do not expect that many of these storms will be strong, however some of them might produce small hail and some gusty winds, however at this point most of the storms will just be regular...complete with rain and lightning for those of you who like the lightning shows.

Now, as of right now, those rain showers are pretty much all over the region right now, and I am still seeing some development back in Indiana and Illinois, and these rain showers will make it here as the day goes on. I am seeing a preview right now of what we can expect tonight, and the preview is down in Missouri where I am following some storms. Right now, most of the storms down that way are just typical, and a couple of them have severe thunderstorm warnings on them, but that is about it. This same system producing those storms down in Missouri (that low pressure and warm front) will be making it here later tonight, and that is basically what we'll see...in fact, it might even be that same cluster of storms if all goes according to plan.

Temps right now aren't as warm as I had expected, but it makes sense seeing as how these rain showers and the east winds are keeping those temps a little lower than expected. However we could still hit 50° in some places like Fort Wayne and Toledo later in the day, however some of us will be lucky to get into the upper 40's.

So really today will just be a rainy and cool, maybe a rumble of thunder here and there this afternoon, with mostly cloudy skies in between those rain showers and temps barely getting into the 50's for much of the region. Expect these rain showers to continue through the afternoon. Rain showers and thunderstorms in the western part of the forecast area tonight (minus Green Bay) as this low pressure approaches, most of the storms will just be regular storms, but a strong one could get into the mix. I will be following these storms down in Missouri and Illinois, for the hell of it and possibly some of them might make it up our way for the nighttime rain showers and thunderstorms, so we'll just have to wait and see what they do this afternoon. Either way, tonight especially and tomorrow morning the region will be seeing some storms and rain showers...in case you do not know by now...it will be raining tonight as well...just thought I should let you know in case I didn't mention it (weather humor).

I'll keep you updated as always, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I'll have them for you as always.
