Well some of you this morning have probably woken up to the winds gusting about in your area. The NWS of Cleveland has placed their entire area under a High Wind Warning, and that goes until 10.00 a.m. this morning. The reason for it is because of that low pressure which is now in Detroit, and its pretty good right now, sitting at 990 mbs. This low pressure is really pushing that air around behind it, and some of us within that warning could see gusts as high as 50 mph this morning. In fact, here at the GWLX (located south of Toledo) I measured a wind gust of 45 mph a little bit earlier. So obviously a little windy this morning. And Buffalo just got a High Wind Warning issued for them as well. The High Wind Warning includes the following GLWX forecast cities, but its not limited to the following:
In Ohio: Toledo, Bowling Green, Lorain, Elyria, Cleveland and Mentor.
In Pennsylvania: Erie, Northeast.
High Wind Warning issued by the NWS in Buffalo, and this warning goes until 4.00 p.m. today and it was just recently issued. It includes the placs that I forecast for, but not limited too:
In New York: Buffalo
Now as far as the rain is concerned, it is going to be a little bit tricky to word properly but I'll do my best. The low pressure is rather concentrated in terms of its rain, and that rain is just about to leave the Toledo and Fort Wayne area in just a bit. Some of the rain could linger around because that low pressure is a little intense, but in general the rain is going to be ending in the above mentioned in just a bit. Now there is going to be some refiring of some scattered rain showers later this afternoon and evening as a trough tries to move through the area and that low pressure heads into Ontario. The secondary chance of rain showers will be labeled as "possible" because there wont be a lot of them, and some places that have that chance might not even get anything from them, but I am keeping it there because that trough at this point is actually producing some precip, but not a lot. That will be late this afternoon and this evening, is when that trough could effect us.
Now as far as temps are concerned, yea, your temp right now in the area will be your high for the day. That cold front is already plowing through the region right now, and even here in GLWX when I checked first this morning I saw 58° and now that cold front has passed through and temps are at 49° here...so they are dropping. It wont be a very chilly day in the area, because there will be some heating today and that'll keep the highs in the 50's for a good chunk of the region today.
So a somewhat controlled excitement in the world of weather here in the region this morning, and it is mostly because of this low pressure system that is moving through the middle of the region right now. Remember, those high wind warnings make for great kite flying. Here is what I am working on for the 7.30 a.m. update: chances of rain this afternoon for the area, and I'll let you know what I expect from that trough as it tries to move through the area and will these winds cease of continue through the day, I'll have that answer as well coming up in just a bit. But for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I'll have them for you as always.
