This mornings storms rolled through about 5 hours earlier than expected...and four hours later as well. This has stabilized the air a bit and has also made things a little cooler across the areas behind the storms.
Severe thunderstorm watch is still in effect for parts of NW Ohio, however Fort Wayne and soon Toledo will be dropped from that watch. Does that mean our chances of good storms are over? Lets take a look shall we:
The cold front is still over in the Chicago area and moving eastward, it should get to Fort Wayne and Toledo this afternoon, and Detroit will see it pass through this afternoon as well. Once that happens...that will kill all our chances for storms, rain and it will bring some much cooler weather with it. In fact for places like Toledo and Fort Wayne tomorrow highs will only be in the upper 40's. Temps behind the front will quickly fall this afternoon, and by the late afternoon Fort Wayne and Toledo will be around 55° and possibly a little bit lower.
Ahead of the front however is where things might still get interesting this afternoon. If we can get some clearing in the skies and a little lift from the rising temps, then we could still pick up a strong storm or two within the area. But from what I am seeing, clouds are prominant across Indiana right now and I am seeing some light rain showers forming back over northern Indiana and that could in turn hinder any other storm development. This will be something I will keep you updated on, but at this rate, again, the best thing we could see (for you storm lovers) will be some heavy downpours and maybe some gusty winds within the storm. The biggest threat of really strong storms will be way to the south down around Cincinnati...which is no where near to our region.
Erie and Buffalo you're too far north to really see those stronger storms like the rest of us saw this morning, but that doesn't mean you wont see any today. Rain showers will be your biggest threat and some embedded storms will be within them later today as well. Cold front will pass you guys late this afternoon/early this evening, and that will cool those temps down overnight as well.
Green Bay...mostly cloudy today with decreasing clouds starting this afternoon.
So, we could still pick up some storms around the noontime hours in Toledo and Fort Wayne, but in general things are looking like they'll turn into just a plain old rain event. I'll keep you updated throughout the morning as always, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I'll have them for you as always.
