Now the SPC does have some interest in the southern part of the region, however their main focus is down in the South.

But again, that doesn't mean that we wont be seeing any storm activity for the day today. The reason for their interest will be that warm front which is going to push through the southern part of the region in just a bit, and that low pressure in the Plain's is going to assist with pushing that moisture from the south our way.
Here is what is happening with the present weather.

We are finally seeing that stationary front move norhtward as a warm front right now, and that is going to push up those temps this afternoon into the mid 70's for a good chunk of the southern region today. Once this warm front passes, air is going to become unstable for the region, and this is going to make the air good for some storm development later today. Most of what we will see this morning before the warm front passes will be rain showers, and then once that front passes, we'll see some storms get into the mix.
Now the biggest threat with these storms if they do become strong will be small hail and very heavy downpours. Again, at this point I am not expecting an outbreak of any sort, but I am expecting scattered rain showers and thunderstorms likely throughout the southern part of the region today, and some of those storms could be strong which means that I will keep an eye on them, and update you if need be.
So for today, just another rainy day across much of the region, and then later today we're going to keep an eye out for some storms, some of which could be strong later today. Again, not expecting an outbreak of any kind, but maybe some fun storms later in the day today.
Highs are going to mild once that warm front passes, and it will also be a little humid. Mostly cloudy across the entire region today, so that could hinder storm development a little bit this afternoon, but that will also be something that I will have to keep an eye on. Nothing much more to really type about that.
As far as that cold front is concerned, well it will pass, but it wont really do so until tomorrow as that low pressure in the middle Plain's tries to get near to the region. For places like Fort Wayne and Toledo, you'll more than likely witness the passage of the cold front to be tomorrow around the noontime hours, and Cleveland and Erie wont see the passage of the front until later tomorrow afternoon. This front will naturally end most of the chances of precip, but it is also going to cool those temps.
Depending on the exact timing of the front tomorrow, will determine if we'll again see some strong storms. Because I am thinking that it wont be until tomorrow afternoon for Cleveland and Erie, I might be keeping the strong storm threat in the forecast for you guys, however seeing as how it might not be until tomorrow morning when that cold front reaches Fort Wayne and Toledo, I might end up dropping the strong storm threat for tomorrow. I will of course make that final decision around noon when I also do the noontime update.
So for the day today, the warm front will push through the southern part of the region later today. This will make the air a little unstable and favourable for rain shower and thunderstorm developement. Some strong storms could get into the mix today, but I will also have to keep an eye on that cloud cover because it could hinder the development of strong storms. Cold front works into the region later tonight and it will cross through the region tomorrow. I will be updating those extended forecasts for the noontime update and I'll let you know whether or not I decide to drop the chances for strong storms in Toledo and Fort Wayne for the day tomorrow.
Remember we have the link to the region radar located at the daily forecast section, just copy and paste that link and you can keep an eye on those rain showers and thunderstorms in between updates.
I'll keep you updated as always, and I'll have another update coming up at noon. But for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I'll have them for you as always.
