(High pressure in the region responsible for the calm weather and cool temps for tonight and tomorrow morning across the region).
I am running out of titles. Well, it'll be a rainy weekend across much of the region, with the usual exception of Green Bay. We're going to have a disturbance move through the region on Thursday night and Friday, and then we're going to watch a low pressure from the southern Plains get ready to make its way towards us on Friday night and Saturday. Both of these will bring the rain with them, and some of you could see some mixing (so be sure to check those extended forecasts) but in general this will be mostly a rain event.
A rain event it will be, and we could see about 0.50 inches to even an inch of rain in most places, and this of course will really be a lot of rain for the ground to handle, so there could be some light flooding, but nothing major. Just the typical flooding in the fields and around those drains, so nothing that we haven't seen during a summer storm.
Temps are going to be warm ahead of the low pressure, and some places could see a high around 50° on Saturday, but dont get use to that temperature quite yet because they'll drop back down to the 30's by Sunday. We could get a little snow from the back edge of this low pressure as it passes us, however it wont be enough to really accumulate.
Here is what I predict in terms of rain fall for some places in the region:
Toledo: You're going to see increasing clouds in the afternoon tomorrow, and then those rain showers will move in after midnight. The rain will last through the day on Friday and into Saturday, and we could see periods of steady rain fall so if you're planning some outdoor activities in the Toledo area...bring a rain jacket so you dont look like a fool when you're the only person outside without a rain jacket. The rain showers will go into Saturday night when we'll see them mix with snow showers after midnight, and by Sunday morning we'll wake up to cloudy skies and scattered snow showers with a high in the mid 30's. So some nice weather, eh.
Buffalo: You're going to have probably the most fun out of this system. Really? Well, depending on how you look at it. Tomorrow will be a clear day for the most part, with a high in the mid 20's. However, tomorrow evening, those clouds begin to roll in and we could start to see some scattered rain and freezing rain showers move into the area by the midnight hours. The freezing rain will be brief if and when it does occur, however by early morning Friday it'll switch to all rain which will get rid of any ice accumulation that you could see. Highs on Friday will again be in the lower 40's. Friday night through Saturday, I am expecting those rain showers to continue, off and on with periods of rain that could last about an hour or so. Highs on Saturday will be in the upper 40's/lower 50's, but it wont be sunny, far from it, it'll be rain. By Saturday night though, those rain showers will turn over to snow showers and by Sunday morning we'll see scattered snow showers and cloudy skies with a high in the 30's.
So, as you can tell, mostly a rain event, with some mixing with snow on Saturday night into Sunday morning. However, at this point there will be no accumulation for anybody, as of now. And I do not expect there to be any real accumulation from this system seeing as how the ground will be a little warm and the temps wont be that low.
So for tonight, a mostly clear night with lows in the teens across the region.
Tomorrow will be another clear day across the region, except for in Green Bay where about 1-2 inches of snow will fall tomorrow.
Otherwise, nothing begining until tomorrow afternoon or so. I'll keep you updated as always, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I'll have them. If you get bored in between updates, you can always check www.glwx.blogspot.com for updates on what I am tracking.
