Well incase most of you do not know, it is winter time. And the weather for tonight and tomorrow night will prove it. However, there are places in this world that are colder...take one of my favorite places in the world, the Russian scientific research center "Vostok" in Antarctica. It is the coldest place on Earth. Right now in Vostok, the temp is -46°F. The high today in Vostok will be -33°F and for the record, it is summer time down there. The world record low was set in Vostok in July 1986, as the temperature dipped to -128.7°F. So, the cool weather here in the region is nothing compared to some places in the world that deal with it on a daily basis.
Alright, back to regional weather. High pressure from the Plain's is going to settle into the region later tonight and tomorrow, and we'll see lows dip down to near zero temps tonight and below zero temps in some places tomorrow night. There isn't really much to type about with this system, so tonights post will be short.
I do want to warn you ahead of time, that any wind you recieve will make those wind chills very low. On its own, 0° wont feel like much, but when you get a 5 to 10 mph wind gust...you will feel it. So I am expecting some winds to gust around 10-15 mph across the region tonight and tomorrow, so that will really keep those wind chills low, especially in the morning.
I am watching another possible system that will effect us here in the region over the weekend, and that'll possibly bring some warmer weather as we'll see highs in the 40's by the beginning of next week.
So check your extended forecasts for more details. I'll have more coming up tomorrow morning, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I'll have them.
