Negative Freezing O'Clock

Yes, I like the title. But lets talk about some weather, eh. Well, we're going to have our trough (I dont feel like typing out the long name) begins to move its way towards us. Now, I do not really expect much in terms of snow accumulation for us here in the Great Lakes region, because much of this system will actually pass to our south.

The areas that will be most effected by this system will be Saint Louis, Indianapolis, Louisville and possibly Marietta, Ohio and Pittsburgh. But none of those places are in our region so it doesn't really matter at this point.

Only Green Bay wont be getting much from this system, so do to space and timing, I wont be talking about Green Bay in tonights post, however we'll talk about you guys in the morning. I can say though, it'll get cool up there for tomorrow night and Friday night so get ready for that.

The timing of this system will be an interesting one. Actually, it'll be about the same as usual. Really, the first places that will begin to see the snow fall will be both Fort Wayne and Toledo. Fort Wayne will have a chance for scattered snow flurries and showers before noon, and then after noon is when the snow could start to begin to fall for sure. Toledo, scattered snow showers likely in the morning, however the bulk of your snow will begin to fall around Noon and that'll last until about 8 p.m. as well. After 8 p.m., scattered snow showers likely overnight but they will end by Friday morning.

It'll most likely be light to occasional moderate snowfall that'll last until about the early evening hours. After about 8 p.m., I expect most of those constant snow showers to be over with, and then we'll just go straight into a chance of scattered snow showers for the rest of the night. For now, I am going to say that about 2 inches of snow will be the total for those two cities between tomorrow afternoon and Friday morning. So basically, the bulk of the snow will fall between Noon through 8 p.m., and will accumulate to about 2 inches.

Behind this system comes the wind and the cooler air. High pressure sets up behind it and will take control of the Great Lakes region for the day on Friday. Temperatures will take a steady drop. Tomorrow night, we'll be around 10° in Fort Wayne and Toledo, and if things change a little bit more I might even be more likely to drop that temperatures a bit more. Then, Friday that high pressure will be centered right over the Great Lakes region, highs on Friday will only be near 15°, and yes, that means it wont be warm. Now, it'll also be windy, so that will keep windchills down below 0° for a good part of the morning hours, thats for sure. However by the late afternoon and early evening, those winds should begin to lessen up a little bit. Friday night and into Saturday morning will be the coolest weather of the 2010-2011 Winter Season yet, as we could see lows down in the low single digits (basically between 0° to 5°)

So for Fort Wayne and Toledo, lets simplify the three paragraphs: Snow showers likely tomorrow morning, then the bulk of the snow falling between Noon and 8 p.m. tomorrow. About 2 inches of snow likely. Scattered snow showers the rest of the evening possible. Friday, cooler with highs only near 15°, and it will be windy. Friday night/Saturday morning, coolest weather of the '10-'11 season, lows in the low single digits.

...We're almost done...one more city to type about...

Erie, Pa. For you guys the snow showers will be arriving a little later. Scattered snow showers likely around the noontime hours, however the bulk of the snow wont really arrive until the evening hours (so around 6 p.m.). The snow wont last very long for you, most of the snow showers will be light with the occasional moderate, and we'll go for about 1-2 inches of snow fall. By midnight, most of the snow showers should be overwith, and then we'll go with scattered snow showers until mid-morning Friday, but then you'll probably get some slight lake effect over the weekend which is to be expected.

Friday, cooler temperatures, with highs in the mid to upper teens and it'll be a little breezy. Now because you guys wont be as close to the high pressure as Toledo and Fort Wayne, your lows on Friday night/Saturday morning wont be as cool. About 10°10°-15° depending on your location. Now, if you go really inland about 15 miles, then you might see those single digits, but nothing like what the places to the west will be seeing.

So to sum up for Erie: Scattered snow showers arriving tomorrow afternoon, then the bulk of the snow will happen between 6 p.m. and midnight. Light to occasional moderate snow fall, accumulations around 1-2 inches. Cooler on Friday with highs in the mid to upper teens and Friday night lows around 10°-15°. Lake effect snow looking likely as well over the weekend, but it'll be light lake effect.

So those are just some of the regional forecasts, and if you made it to this point, then you are a true weather reader and rock on. So, really, only the southern areas of the region being effected, about 1-2 inches of snow for most places. I'll keep you updated on this system and other weather that could effect the region, as always. But for now, with a hand cramp from all this typing, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather! Keep checking back for updates.
