Low Pressure Natalya

Low Pressure Natalya is the 992 mb low pressure located in between the two peninsula's of Michigan...you cant miss it if you know what you're looking for.

What a surprise, there is a low pressure giving snow to the Great Lakes region in January. This is really a shocker...and this is really sarcasm in case you can tell over my typing. Well, as some of you in the region might notice, there is snow falling. Places like Toledo and even Erie are presently seeing some snow falling. Now, for people in Toledo, there wont be much accumulation, maybe about an inch between today and Saturday morning, but it is snow nonetheless.

We have a low pressure right now right next to Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. It's pressure is 992 mbs, thus qualifying it to be named Natalya by us here at the Great Lakes Weather Network. Now Natalya is a little unexpected, because I was not originally expecting this low pressure to pass below 996 mbs, but oh well, that's the weather world, what can you do about it.

Natalya will hang around the region for the next 48 hours, give or take a couple hours, and it will be producing some light snow in places like Toledo, Detroit and eve Buffalo and Erie (who'll be seeing some lake effect snow upwards of 2-3 inches by Saturday). Natalya will take her time in moving out of the region, and I am only expecting it to be in northern Lake Ontario by Saturday morning, so obviously she'll be a little obnoxious, but that is to be expected.

So what does all this mean? Simple really, snow for the central and eastern sections of the Great Lakes region for the next 36-48 hours, but it'll mostly be a scattered snow shower event. Behind Natalya will be some cooler air, places like Toledo could see lows near 10° on Friday night and Saturday night. By Sunday however, we'll see skies clearing out for the central Great Lakes region and by Monday we'll see clearing for the eastern part of the region.

So, basically, scattered snow showers anywhere east of Lake Michigan for the next 36-48 hours, and by Sunday we'll see clearing for the central region, and clearing on Monday for the eastern region. Naturally and as usual, I'll keep you up to date on Natalya and other weather as it develops, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather! Keep checking for updates.
