Well it has snowed across much of the GLWX realm between yesterday evening and now, still waiting for those reports to come in to see how much snow everybody has recieved, however I am sure the NW Ohio got about an inch of snow. Now, the system that I am sure a lot of you are watching is our little friend who will be forming in Nebraska later tonight. We are all predicting this low to pass through Chicago and into central Michigan which means that some places will get a lot fo snow while others will just get about 2-4 inches. Let's take a look at the GLWX forecasts priovided by Jacob, Ryan and myself.
Toledo: Snow showers will continue into the morning hours, however I am seeing that most should be over by about 7 a.m. and we'll become mostly cloudy today. The highs today will be in the mid 30's, so I am betting that a good chunk of the snow we recieved will be melting. Tonight, we'll see mostly cloudy skies still and we'll call for lows in the mid 20's. Tomorrow is the ugly day with scattered rain showers in the morning hours, then becomming off and on rain showers late in the afternoon. Highs tomorrow near 40°. Tomorrow night, watch the rain showers become more frequent and depending on the exact track of the storm, we should see rain showers switch over to snow showers sometime around 8 p.m. Little snow accumulation will be expected on Saturday Night. However, moving into Sunday, the snow showers will be frequent and we'll see them finally start to accumulate, I am expecting total snow time accumulations of 2-4 inches on Sunday. The snow showers however will taper off in the afternoon and then just become scattered.
Fort Wayne: Same as what I had said for Toledo, only your times will be a different. Highs today in the mid 30's and mostly cloudy. Those snow showers should have ended by now. Tonight, mostly cloudy in the Fort Wayne region with lows only in the mid 20's -- so warmer than what we have been seeing. Tomorrow, expect mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers before noon. Then afternoon, we'll start to see some rain moving into the area with most of that rain happening around late afternoon. Highs tomorrow near 40°. Tomorrow night, after about 7 p.m. we'll start to see those rain showers switch into snow, however little accumulation is expected before midnight. Sunday however, snow showers will be frequent in the morning hours then they'll become scattered, however Lake Effect is possible off Lake Michigan. I expect about 3-5 inches of snow by Sunday evening. Highs on Sunday will start off near 30°, but by the afternoon they'll be dropping back into the lower 20's.
Erie: Snow showers arriving within the next hour or two, and today you'll see accumulations of around 1-3 inches. Highs today in the low 30's. Tonight, snow showers will be ending by the evening hours with lows down in the mid 20's. Tomorrow, expect mostly cloudy skies in the morning with highs in the mid 30's. Tomorrow night watch as the rain showers move in and you'll have lows only in the 30's Some of those rain showers will mix with snow showers after around midnight. Sunday, watch as those snow showers take control of the climate however little accumulation is expected at this time. Sunday night will be the fun night of snow, snow showers will be frequent with accumulations around 2-5 inches. Do expect some lake effect snow for the beginning of the week.
Buffalo: We have a very large storm coming into the Buffalo region, but there is a large debate over whether it will be rain or snow. Precipitation will start Saturday night into Sunday, but beyond that it is hard to tell exactly what will fall when. It looks at this point that the storm may be generally snow, and that it could be very heavy at times, but the exact track of the low pressure system should be crucial to the forecast. By tomorrow, I should have a better idea on the storm for the Buffalo region, so make sure to check back then.
Detroit: Similar to what I posted with Buffalo, there is going to be a storm impacting the Detroit region with some snow, rain, or a mix of both. Right now, it looks like the precipitation will start Saturday evening and go through Sunday overnight, and it appears that it should be predominantly snow at this point. The exact track of the low pressure system will be crucial to the exact forecast, but 2-6 inches plus is possible depending on where the low goes and how much rain mixes in with all of the snow. Behind the system, it will get even colder and some lake effect snow may set up, and winds may blow in a direction where downtown Detroit could get in one of those bands.
Green Bay: Unlike some of the other forecasts, I am very positive that Green Bay should see all snow from the upcoming snow storm. It looks like snow will start Saturday afternoon, and get heavy through the evening, before tapering off on Sunday. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the region, as they expect 5-10 inches to fall with this storm. As I mentioned earlier, the exact track will be crucial when looking at snowfall amounts, as some weather models show the area getting very little snow, while others show the area getting over a foot. You will have to keep it tuned here so that we can continuously update you with the latest information for the snow in your region.
Cleveland: Snow showers in the morning, snow accumulations around 1-3 inches. Otherwise it'll be mostly cloudy. Highs today in the upper 30's. Moving into tonight, we'll see those snow showers leave the region before sunset, and we'll see mostly cloudy skies with lows down into the mid 20's. Tomorrow will just be a mostly cloudy day with rain showers likely after about 3 p.m. Highs tomorrow near 40°. Tomorrow night, snow showers will begin to dominate over the climate however little snow accumulation is expected on Saturday night. Sunday will be the day to watch for as you'll see highs near 30° then dropping off to the lower 20's. Snow accumulations of 2-4 inches is possible by Sunday evening.
Grand Rapids: Snow showers possible in the morning, then becoming mostly cloudy with highs in the mid 30's. Tonight, lows down into the upper 20's and mostly cloudy. Tomorrow, a rain/snow mix will enter the region by the evening hours, expect highs to be in the upper 30's. Tomorrow night watch those snow showers become more frequent. Sunday it'll be windy with snow showers and total snow accumulation by Sunday evening will range anywhere from 4-8 inches. Highs on Sunday will be in the upper 20's with lows down into the mid teens.
So there you have it...snow into the regions. Some heavier than others. I believe that the farther north this system goes, the better chances of rain for people to its south and east. Right now, it is expected to pass near Chicago and ride through Michigan, however the most recent indications provided to us by a Canadian computer model (the only one I really trust), the G.E.M., shows that the low pressure could pass over NW Ohio and through Cleveland, and if that happens well people in Fort Wayne and Toledo will be getting more than just 2-4 inches of snow. However, it's still about 12 hours to early to make a call on that, so right now we're going to keep that low pressure going through Chicago and into Michigan. We'll be keeping you up to date as always, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson, and that's the weather!
