Snow. Well today's forecast is full of...snow. You guessed it, snow. As a high pressure builds in from the west of the Great Lakes and a low over Maine pushes winds over the lakes, we'll see some lake effect snow for a lot places along the lakes, however Buffalo, you might actually have a break in your snow, but we'll get to that in a couple paragraphs.
This high pressure in the west however is not only responsible for the snow that will be falling today in the northern parts of Indiana, but it will also be responsible for bring in some much cooler weather for the region. By cooler weather I mean some places might see lows down into the mid teens by the middle of the week.
Let's take a look at some forecasts:
Toledo: Highs today only around 30° and not so much this morning, but later this afternoon you could see some scattered snow showers reaching the area. I do not expect any snow accumulation at this time, but if there is any, it'll be a dusting. Tonight, Toledo you could still expect to see some scattered snow showers in your area, again no accumulation really expected at this time, but you will have lows in the lower 20's. Tomorrow, we could again still see some scattered snow showers in the region, and highs only in the upper 20's.
Erie: Today anywhere from 2-4 inches of snow will fall in your area, some places might see up to 5-6 inches in the heavier bands of snow coming off the lake. Highs today only near 30° as well. Tonight, Erie can still expect to see an additional 4-7 inches of snow, with some places getting an extra 9 inches in the heavier bands. Total snow accumulation for today and tonight will be anywhere from 6-17 inches of snow...yes, a large gap in the numbers, I know, but most places will see at least 6 inches, however some places might get heavier snow bands off the lake which will put them in the running for possibly a foot of snow. Tomorrow, still a chance for some snow showers, could be another inch or two, but you'll have highs in the upper 20's as well.
Fort Wayne: Today you'll have snow showers arriving mostly after noon. Snow could give you about an inch of accumulation. Highs today in the lower 30's, with mostly cloudy skies otherwise. Tonight, as that snow could be making it from Lake Michigan, you could see new snow accumulations of 1-3 inches. So people of Fort Wayne could see anywhere from 2-4 inches of snow between today and tonight. Tonight, lows in the lower 20's. Tomorrow, still a decent chance of snow showers, and you could get another half inch to an inch of snow accumulation of snow. Highs only in the mid 20's.
Detroit, you have a lot of snow in your forecast! There will be abundant flurries around today and tonight, as temperatures will struggle to get above freezing and low tonight will drop into the mid 20s. Snow should be around tomorrow, hopefully to add some cheer into the beginning of the work week. The snow showers will be scattered about, and winds will be blowing all around. Temperatures will not struggle to get out of the 20s, and temperatures should drop to around 20 overnight. Snow will continue on Tuesday and potentially into Wednesday morning, but as of now it does not look like it will accumulate to much. Keep checking back in for more information, especially as this chance of snow nears.
Green Bay, sunny and cold conditions seem to be in your forecast. Partly cloudy skies with highs in the mid 20s and lows in the mid to low teens appear likely today. Tomorrow, temperatures may not get above 20, and at night they should plummet to around 20 degrees, with skies staying clear. Tuesday will also be partly cloudy and on average about 3 degrees warmer than tomorrow. Wednesday appears to be almost identical to Tuesday. Thursday temperatures will rise just a tad, as it looks like the next chance of snow will work its way into the forecast, so stay tuned.
Buffalo, snow, snow, and more snow is on tap for you. Today there will be scattered snow showers with a high around 30, and tonight snow will become much more likely and widespread with a low in the mid to low 20s. Tomorrow the snow will be widespread and very persistent, and we could see accumulation between 2-4 inches in general, with much more possible where the Lake Effect bands set up. Highs will be in the upper 20s, and temperatures tomorrow night will likely drop to around 20. Tuesday the snow should continue, with similar highs as tomorrow. The snow will then become more scattered in nature Tuesday night, as temperatures plummet down into the mid to upper teens. Wednesday and Thursday the snow appears to be much more scattered, but it will be in the forecast nonetheless. Keep checking back in for more snow updates as the snow continues.
So, a lot places in the Great Lakes region could see some snow today, otherwise it wont be that bad of a day for you summer lovers. Just remember, temperatures by mid week will be a bit cooler than what it is now, so get out and enjoy the warmer weather while it lasts. I'll be keeping you all up to date as always especially with the snow, I hope to get some snow reports from across the region as they come in. Stay tuned, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather!
