Snow on the way?

Well, things are starting to look favorable for the possibility of some snow showers on both Friday and on Saturday Night. But first let's take a look at what I expect for tonight across the Great Lakes region...

Tonight: A lot of places are going to be cool, we'll have lows down near 10° for places like Toledo, Fort Wayne and Detroit. Some places could see the single digits in the rural areas, so really a cool night tonight across much of the Great Lakes region.

Alrighty, now on to the snow which I am sure a lot of you in the region are wondering about.

Tomorrow evening: We'll see our clipper system move into the Great Lakes region, it'll pass over northern Minnesota and will produce snow for much of Wisconsin, could see about 1-3 inches of snow possible in those areas. The image below is my forecasted snow area for Thursday night.

Friday: The clipper will move into Lake Superior, and will give a decent amount of snow to places like Grand Rapids and Detroit. Toledo will be the hardest to forecast for because this low is going to really skim its snow across northern Ohio. Places like Toledo might see about 1-2 inches of snow, whereas Fort Wayne might see about 1-3 inches of snow. The image below is my forecasted area of snow for Friday morning.

Friday Night: The snow showers will start to diminish across the NW Ohio region and NE Indiana region, however the snow will be at its height in Cleveland and Erie and will be just starting in Buffalo.

Saturday: The snow will be out of the Michigan and Ohio areas, and will mostly be in Erie and Buffalo, where about 2-4 inches of snow could fall. At the same time, our low pressure will be forming down near the Ozarks during the late morning and early afternoon hours. The evolution of this storm could be a quick one, which will make it even more difficult to forecast for.

Saturday Night: Our low pressure from the Ozarks begins to move eastward across Tennessee and as it does so it'll deepen [get stronger] quickly and will begin to produce snow in places like Fort Wayne and Lima (and maybe even Toledo) by about 9 p.m. However, it wont be until midnight that places like Toledo and Cleveland and possibly Detroit will start seeing the snow.

Sunday: The low will deepen more and then move into North Carolina and snow will still be falling in the following places on Sunday morning: Toledo, Fort Wayne, Detroit, Cleveland, Erie, Buffalo, and possibly Grand Rapids. I do not expect this system to dump a ton of snow, however about 2-4 inches of snow is possible at this point for places like Fort Wayne and Toledo, and about 1-2 inches of snow is possible in Detroit whereas 2-3 inches of snow could fall in Erie, PA during the day on Sunday.

Sunday Night: The system will really begin to deepen as it moves northeast towards Delaware. The snow will begin to lessen in Toledo, Grand Rapids and Fort Wayne, however I do still expect the snow to be falling in places like Erie, Cleveland and Buffalo at this time.

So let's take a quick forecast recap here: Tomorrow through Friday, a clipper system will move through the region and give about 1-3 inches of snow in cities like Green Bay, Fort Wayne, Toledo, Detroit, Cleveland, Erie and Buffalo...so basically the entire forecast realm will be effected by this clipper system within the next 48-56 hours. Then, on Saturday we're going to watch a low pressure system form in the Ozarks, deepen quickly and it will produce a decent amount of snow in places for much of the central and eastern Great Lakes region. Green Bay and Chicago are most likely not going to be directly affected by this system. This system has the potential to produce about 2-4 inches of snow, however I am sure that I'll be updating that number tomorrow morning to fit the new charts and numbers that will be coming in.

So not a major snow storm on the way, but definetly one that will be fun to track and could give the Great Lakes region some nice looking scenary by Monday.

I'll keep you up to date as always, so please stay tuned for forecast updates and more, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather!
