25 July 2012

I didn't see any need to really change the forecast a whole lot this evening because I am expecting things to still be going the same. What is going to happen tomorrow is a low pressure will move out of the Plains and near the region. The low will push through lower Michigan during the day tomorrow. Now, in doing so, it'll drag that front - which was a cold front, now a warm front - NE through the region tonight and into tomorrow morning. Hence...chance of storms tonight. With this warm front moving through the region, the air behind it will be condusive for storm development...but it needs one thing. Lift. Where will it get it? The approaching cold front which is off to the region's NW right now. This front will head towards the region during the day tomorrow and then push through tomorrow evening. With the front moving through the region, looking at a chance of storms. A good chance too. Some of the storms tomorrow might even be strong with gusty winds and small hail (though nothing like what we saw a month ago, the derecho...remember?). The best chances for storms in the region tomorrow will be in the late afternoon until about midnight. I am expecting that a storm line will be possible, not a scattered event. The storms will push through and things will quiet down. The upper level trough arrives, but a wave of low pressure will sneak into the region during Friday afternoon/evening. This wave will allow for widely scattered rain showers to possibly develop in the area. But those will be short lived as that trough allows for a high pressure to build into the region and dominate the region as well. Looking like a good weekend. I'll have more information coming up tomorrow morning starting around 5:15AM. For now, that's the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I'll have them for you as always.
