20 July 2012

Frontal boundary has slipped a bit to the south this morning and is now running through central Ohio. This will keep us a little bit cloudy and cool for the time being. Now this frontal boundary will move a bit further from the region in a little bit and that will allow for some breaks in the clouds to take place in the western half of the region later this afternoon, but the eastern half of the region is going to hold onto the clouds a little bit longer. Still seeing some left over rain showers as the upper level trough hangs around the region and the wave of low pressure in the upper levels exits. There is a high pressure just off to our NW and that is going to slip into the region later this afternoon (hence the clearing) and it will dry us out for a little bit and keep the majority of the region calm and clear tonight. The weather will remain in a calm patter, although temperatures will once again begin to warm back into the 90's towards the end of the weekend and the start of next week. This will be because a cold front will start to head towards the region. The cold front is going to move into the region no earlier than late Monday afternoon and no later than early Tuesday morning (so I took the average of those times and just gave the region the overnight precip). If you look at the extended forecasts, you'll notice that all have a chance for rain showers and thunderstorms Monday night (and into Tuesday morning in the east), but again, I'll be working on the fine details of that this afternoon so make sure you check back for updates on that. So really, not much going on in the region right now. Lingering rain showers in the region as that wave of low pressure/upper level trough pushes through the region, which is causing the frontal boundary to slip a bit to the south, allowing us to remain a bit cool today. Drier air filters into the region tonight. I'll keep you updated as always, but for now, that's the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I'll have them for you.
