So really not a whole lot has changed in the overall synopsis since yesterday. We have a ridge of high pressure over the region right now and this is allowing for that warm air to filter into the region. Temperatures will be hot today with a lot of places in the western half of the region getting around 90, and other places seeing at least middle 80's. Skies are going to be clear for the majority of the day today, save for a few clouds in the Fort Wayne area late this afternoon. Now this calm weather isn't going to last because we're going to watch a cold front head towards the region.
This cold front will move in from the Midwest and it'll move at a decent speed. Ahead of that front will be rain showers and thunderstorms which will make their presense known tomorrow, especially in the afternoon for places west of Cleveland. The storms will be scattered, as will the rain showers. As this cold front continues to near the region, places like Erie and Buffalo will start to get in on the precip action. We're going to watch the rain showers filter into the Erie area late tomorrow afternoon and then become more widespread and likely overnight and into the day Tuesday. Buffalo might be the only place where storms aren't going to be the main feature, you guys will mainly get rain showers.
As Tuesday progresses, we're going to watch the cold front push through the western half of the region. This will allow for the rain showers and thunderstorms to linger in the early morning and then gradually taper off before noon. The skies will also start to clear out and we'll go for a mainly calm afternoon in the western half of the region. Temperatures will still be a little on the mild side, holding into the mid 80's in the Fort Wayne and Toledo area, but a little bit of a cool down is going to be on the way.
Tuesday evening, we're going to watch the rain showers and thunderstorms taper off in the Cleveland area, however the Erie and Buffalo areas will still be holding onto them. Those will start to become widely scattered after midnight and then we're going to watch those start to taper off towards sunrise hours in the Erie area and perhaps the Buffalo areas as well.
Wednesday is when things across the region calm down completely. Looking at an area of high pressure to not only develop, but dominate the regional weather for the next few days. This high will allow for temperatures to return to normal throughout the region with a lot of places staying below 80 for highs both Wednesday and into the day Thursday.
So some hot weather today, and then the rain showers and thunderstorms will move into the region late tonight and into tomorrow morning. Be sure that you check those extended forecasts for more details on your location. I'll keep you updated as always, and if need be I'll be revising those extended forecasts later this afternoon. But for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather!
