The forecast for the region is going to be a little bit more simple once these two present systems push out of the region. Today we're going to watch as a weak cold front pushes through the region today, and this is going to not only cool the regional temperatures down a little bit from the unseasonably hot temperatures we had yesterday, but it will also introduce some scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in the region this afternoon.
This cold front, though not very strong, will be enough to push up this moisture against and help in developing some storms this afternoon. The storms that I am expecting aren't going to be strong, but they'll be regular. Some places in the region might not get storms, they could just get a few rain showers here and there. Regardless, looks like the region will finally get some of those rain showers that we've been lacking these past few days.
The cold front will push out of the region late tonight and early tomorrow morning, and despite some lingering clouds in the western half of the region, and some lingering rain showers in the eastern half of the region tomorrow morning, the region as a whole should clear out around Noon. Looking at highs tomorrow to only be in the 70's at their greatest. Why? A high pressure is going to move in from the northwest and with it will be that cooler and drier air in the region.
While this high pressure will dominate the regional weather tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday, it won't be enough to keep the heat away. In fact, it will work with the region tomorrow and into Wednesday, but then it'll start to work against the region on Thursday and Friday. Looking at highs on Thursday to start climbing back into the mid to upper 80's in the region as the high slides to the east. For those of you who might remember me typing every now and then: when you're on the western end of a high pressure, that normally means warmer temperatures due to the flow of the air. Warmer - and perhaps moisture as well from the Gulf - air will flow up from the south and into the region towards Thursday and Friday and this will allow for those temperatures to get warm once again.
As far as 90's are concerned during this period: I didn't get anybody that number yet, however I might up Fort Wayne's Friday highs to around 90 depending on how things go this morning.
Do not be expecting any relief from the overnight lows on Thursday night and Friday night either. Warm air advection comes during the day, and as well as the night. So make sure that you have those air conditioners ready, and if not, get those fans ready. Why? Because overnight lows in the western half of the region (or possibly the whole region) on Thursday night and Friday night might only be in the mid 60's...and we all know what that feels like.
With this warm and moist air flow, there might be some storms that could develop from this as well - especially in the western half of the region. So far, I just have the possibly scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in the forecasts, but that too could be upped this afternoon depending on how things go this morning. The storms that do form out of this probably won't be strong, but it I'll do some more work on that throughout the morning as well.
This will probably be my only post for the day, unless things change drastically later this morning, in which case I'll have another post up this afternoon. Extended forecasts will be revised in a little bit, so make sure that you check back to see those. But for now, that's the weather!
