Upper level trough swining into the region and this will be the main feature of the weather for the next couple of days in the region. Right now, we're still waiting for the cool air to finish filling in the region, so we're still seeing rain/snow shower mix in the Cleveland area with rani being reported out in the Erie and Buffalo area.Tonight, lake effect snow showers will be effecting the western half of the region, not just the eastern half. Strong NW winds, in association with the upper trough, will be causing for air to remain good enough to support those snow showers. Now the snow showers aren't going to be anything like what the Erie area is going to see, but they will be good enough for perhaps an inch of snow in the western half of the region tonight if all goes to plan.
Alright back to the upper trough. The upper trough is going to be the main focus of the forecasts of the next couple of days across the region. It will be responsible for the 9-16 inches of lake effect snow that Erie will see, and the 5-9 inches of snow the Cleveland and Buffalo areas will be seeing between tonight and Tuesday. This upper trough is also going to be responsible for the cooler weather that we're going to see during that time as well.
As active as the weather is going to get, amazingly there isn't that much to type about.
I could spend about a 1200 words typing about the upper trough, but I really do not think that anybody would read that except me. So, expect the posts for the next couple of days to be incredibly short compared to normal. The posts will get longer though as that upper trough pulls out of the region and warm front enters the region towards the end of the work week and gives us some warmer weather in the 40's by Friday.
I'll have a brief update coming up later this evening, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I'll have them for you as always.
