Keeping the Tradition Alive

It almost seems that everytime we get ready to head fully into winter, something has to come along and put us back to November. And to keep the tradition alive, we have another low pressure that is going to come and warm us up and then cool us down once again.

The forecasts is actually rather simple right now as this system approaches the region.

A low pressure will move out of the Plains today and it shall continue to deepen as it hads towards the region. However, nearly at the last minute, this low pressure centre will actually hook a turn to the northeast and go instead over the northwestern half of the Great Lakes region. This will allow for a warm front to push through the region this evening.

As the warm front gets closer, we'll see the clouds increase throughout the entire region, and then we're going to see rain showers start developing from the west to the east. The rain showers will be steady at times and they will be fairly light to moderate. We're then going to watch the front push through the region overnight tonight and that will help sustain those temperatures in the mid to upper 30's for the overnight lows.

As the low pressure continues to deepen, it is going to pull down some cool air from the northwest, but it wont be a whole lot of cool air. Thus enter the cold front. Tomorrow we're going to watch a cold front get ready to push through the region and this front is going to really push a good amount of rain showers - and maybe a few rumbles of thunder - into the region during the morning hours tomorrow. Temperature wil continue to climb ahead of the front, however the cloud cover is going to complicate things a little bit. The clouds and rain showers are going to actually keep the temperatures in the western half of the region a little lower than what I was expecting yesterday, but nonetheless they'll still be well above average.

Once the front passes through, we'll see the rain showers become influenced from wrap around moisture, but again that cool air will not have fully arrived yet. Either way, the cool air mass coming down isn't that great. This will allow for lingering and widley scattered rain showers to effect the region tomorrow afternoon, but mainly it'll just be cloudy.

Tomorrow evening and overnight, from the west to the east those scattered rain showers will give way to scattered snow showers across the region, but those snow showers won't really be that much until you get over to Erie and Buffalo.

While the rest of the region is simply seeing about normal temperatures with cloudy skies, the Erie and Buffalo area will see a lake effect snow event starting up tomorrow night and going through until Tuesday morning in the region. There won't be a whole lot of accumulation in those areas however because the temperatures will go above freezing during the day and that isn't going to support it, but I might throw in an inch or possibly two for Monday night depending on how things go over today.

Otherwise, temperatures remain slightly above average throughout the week until the next system arrives...and this system might give us another shot at some below normal temperatures in the region.

Now do the fact that the weather will still be a little calm today, I will not have an update until this evening. I'll update you all if things change sooner. Otherwise forecasts and the like will be revised around 7.00 p.m. this evening. So make sure you check back for the updates because I'll have them for you as always. But for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather!
