Evening Post

Weather across the region tonight is calming down, despite some lingering gusts of about 40-mph in parts of the region, but those will lessen up as the evening progresses. A few snow flurries out and about the region this evening, but those too will start to lighten up a little bit. I am still holding on for a chance for snow showers in the eastern half of the region after midnight tonight and tomorrow morning as that cold front will pull some cooler air over the lake, however the temperature difference between the surface and 850-mb level won't be that great. Of the snow showers that do form over the eastern half of the region, they will be light and no accumulation should occur as the ground will still be warm and temperatures tomorrow will not support it.

Tomorrow we're going to watch a high presure build into the region and this high pressure, though calming the weather, will not be strong enough to push the clouds entirely out of the region. The clouds are going to hang around, and the temperatures are going to remain only a degree above average, but nonetheless it'll be cooler than what we saw today in the region.

Tomorrow night...another calm night in the region as that high pressure will continue to make its presense known throughtout the region.

Wednesday, still another calm day in the region as that high presure will make its presense know. But the forecast gets a little tricky on Wednesday night.

Wednesday night, the high pressure will slip out to the east, and this will push in some slightly warmer air into the region and creating a ridge effect in the upper levels. At the same time, we're going to watch a low pressure move to the north of the northern Plains and this is going to be the focus of the next weather system...or will it?

The big question this evening will go into Thursday morning as that low pressure drags a moisture deprived cold front towards the region. There will be a little advection ahead of the front, but generally things should stay dry. We'll watch a low pressure to the south attempt to work with an upper level trough so it can push in those rain showers into the region (and maybe some snow showers) but the question will be: how far to the north will the rain/snow showers make it into the region on Thursday morning. For now, I did continue with the chances in the western half of the region - and for the region as a whole - but tomorrow I might drop it depending on how things are shaping up in the morning.

Afterwards the weather for the weekend is looking like things will go down a degree or two below normal as quick moving low pressure system could push the region. I'll type more about that coming up tomorrow morning with updates starting at 4.30 a.m. But for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I'll have them for you as always.
