No big changes to the forecast for tonight as a cold front ahead of an upper level trough is going to push through the region. This front will gradually drop temperatures throughout the region and we'll slowly make our way back to normal temperatures in the region. Looking at the upper level trough to work in through the region over the weekend and keep some clouds and cooler temperatures in the region over the weekend. A few lake effect snow showers could develop tomorrow in the eastern half of the region, however there will be many things working against it: The temperature contrast behind the front isn't going to be that much, the difference between the surface and 850-mb level will be low and the winds aren't going to be that strong. Nonetheless a few flurries could develop off the lake, but none of the snow will accumulate as temperatures at the surface will be just a little too warm. So really it will be a cloudy and calm weekend throughout the region this weekend.
Upper level trough is going to exit the region on Monday night/Tuesday morning and this will allow for an upper level low to develop in Texas. This will spawn a low pressure which is going to head towards the east of the region. The low pressure is going to usher in some warm air along with a mid-Atlantic high pressure and this will allow for a ridge to develop over the region during the middle of the week. Looking at temperatures to once again return into the 40's, but I am not expecting that we're going to see anything near 50° like what we saw today.
At the same time, a high pressure will slip into the northern Rockies allowing for an upper level trough - along with its surface low - to head towards the region. For those of you who read the Afternoon Post, then you know of the details with this trough, so I won't go into that much detail with it. The southern Low will more than likely make a glancing blow across the region so we're not going to see a whole lot from that. However it is that northern Low (the one from the trough) that is grabbing my attention again this evening as it will drag its cold front through the region and this could introduce snow showers into the region once again. Regardless of whether or not (word pun) we get snow, cooler air is going to filter into the region towards the end of next week and this is going to allow for lows to get down to a little below average.
Tomorrow morning at 6.30 a.m. I am going to give you all a full rundown of the weather for the next 7 days and what we can expect to see. Extended forecasts will also be revised around that time as well, so be sure that you check back for those. I'll keep you updated as always, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I'll have them for you as always.
